A simple drawing of the interior of a room. How to draw a room design yourself

Any novice artist has to draw objects of the environment one day. Furniture for a cafe or a kitchen set in your apartment - everything can be reflected on paper over time, turning into a beautiful drawing. However, it is also worth mastering the skills of drawing furniture for those who order furniture for themselves from craftsmen or often work with customer customers. Agree, the painted furniture looks much better and is a much more understandable task for the carpenter than just a verbal description.

Why you should learn to draw furniture

By learning how to draw ready-made cabinets or other pieces of furniture, you will eventually be able to invent and draw completely new details that do not exist in reality. This will allow you to create your own furniture, making your ideas more visual. This experience, again, is useful to any artist.

Draw a cabinet with a pencil

First, we make a template for the future cabinet on paper. To do this, decide:

  • how many shelves will it have;
  • what will be its walls;
  • what will be the whole structure.

When the draft layout on paper is ready, start laying out some items on the shelves. This will allow you to imagine the closet, so to speak, in reality. Let the items on the shelves be different: books or photographs, various small knickknacks - in general, what you, as an artist, do best. The back wall needs to be made darker, since there is less light there. When you introduce shadows, start from the back wall. Next, we begin to introduce new details and shadows on the rest of the objects you painted on the shelves. Now it remains to erase the auxiliary lines drawn at the very beginning. Tweak the main contours.

Good afternoon, in today's lesson we will study such a thing as perspective and as an example, we will learn how to draw a room in perspective.

Let's take a look at the concept of what is perspective? Perspective is a visual distortion of the proportions and shape of real bodies in their visual perception. For example, two parallel roads seem to converge to a single point on the horizon.

In our lesson, these will not be two roads, but a living room with interior items, which we look at from a certain point, and the walls of the room and interior items visually move away from us, here, in order to maintain the correct proportions, we will study in this lesson.

Step 1
Draw a horizontal line using a ruler. Draw a dot in the center. This will be the vanishing point where many lines will converge. There is another vanishing point on the left side of the paper.

Step 2
Now let's draw a rectangle, most of which is below the horizon line. From the vanishing point, draw lines through the corners of the rectangle to the edges of the paper.

Step 3
Erase the lines drawn inside the rectangle. Now we have the correct outline of the room in perspective. Let's draw some rectangles, as well as some vertical lines.

Step 4
With the help of a ruler, draw a few more lines from the vanishing point. Let's also draw ovals for the lamp.

Step 5
Erase unnecessary lines again. Now let's draw some vertical lines, rectangles and curved lines. Now it is already clear where the sofa, fireplace, lamp, paintings, door and window will be.

Step 6
Again, draw guide lines from the vanishing point to get the lines for the sofa, window, door, paintings, and baseboard. We will also draw two U-shapes, one for the table lamp and the other for the bottom of the vase. Let's draw some lines for the logs in the fireplace.

Step 7
Let's add some details to the logs, vase and lamp. Let's draw curved lines for the sofa cushions. Next, draw a D-shape for the coffee table.

Step 8
We continue to add interior details in our lesson .

Step 9
Draw the legs of a coffee table. Now we will draw a chair for which we will not use the central vanishing point. The chair is turned on its side and two separate vanishing points are used. However, the points are outside the sheet. We have already drawn one vanishing point on the left. If there is no space on the right side of the sheet, you can place another sheet of paper and mark the vanishing point on it. Let's draw lines going to the right vanishing point. Let's start drawing bricks on the fireplace.

Step 10
Now let's draw some lines going to the left vanishing point. We continue to draw bricks on the fireplace.

Step 11
We continue to draw an armchair and an ottoman. Draw a line of lamp wire and a few more bricks on the bottom of the fireplace.

Step 12
We will finish the chair and other details that need to be finalized.

Step 13
Erase unnecessary lines. The room is ready.

Our lesson on how to draw a room in perspective is over, taking this lesson as an example, you can draw your room in perspective. Train and you will succeed, developing your skills, you can draw not only rooms, but also houses, streets, parks, etc.

We hope you enjoyed this lesson. and if you want to be the first to receive our new lessons, you can subscribe to their mailing list.

We publish new lessons once a week, and you will be the first to know about them. You can also publish your drawing lessons by adding them to our website.

Do you have a good imagination? Wonderful. However, often, when planning a repair, one wants not only to imagine what was planned, but also to visualize it. In addition, sometimes situations arise when builders or other specialists need to explain your desires not “on the fingers”, but on a completely tangible picture.
How to draw the interior of the room? Now we'll tell you. We will try to draw the interior of the room in stages in perspective, that is, with the shape and size of interior items distorted by visualization. Unclear? Imagine two parallel roads... If we look at them in perspective, then on the horizon they will definitely converge at one point - the vanishing point, although in reality they will never intersect.
Well, we won’t look at the roads, but we’ll try to draw a living room with a fireplace together. 1. On sheet A4, we draw one line parallel to the edge of the paper, and then draw the second - the horizon line, in the center of which we determine one vanishing point, and beyond the edge of the line parallel to the edge of the sheet we determine the second.

Draw the horizon line and vanishing points

2. Then we apply the features of a rectangle to the image, most of which is located below the horizon line. From the main vanishing point we draw rays to the edges of parallel lines - these are the outlines of the walls, ceiling and floor.

Creating perspective

3. Delete the lines inside the rectangle and start drawing the outlines of the furniture: floor lamp stand, door, sofa back, etc.

We draw the basic elements of the interior

4. We draw a few more lines from the vanishing point, draw the oval outlines of the floor lamp, and the fireplace is outlined a little.

We continue to draw furniture

5. We delete the lines that have become unnecessary and continue to draw the outlines of the furniture.

We apply the main elements of furniture

6. Draw a few more lines from the main vanishing point - in the future they will become a sofa, window, floor lamp, paintings or any other item you need.

Draw a few more rays from the vanishing point

7. We draw the outlines of pillows, a coffee table, and other objects - so it will become clear to you how these objects should look on a sheet of paper.

Activate the second vanishing point

8. Remember, we still have a second vanishing point? It is needed in order to correctly place the furniture on the other side of the picture. We draw the necessary lines and outline the outlines of the chair and pouffe.

Almost finished sketch of the interior of the room

If you wish, you can refine the details of the drawing, although it is already clear that all the most important elements of the interior are visible on the sketch. Any room can be depicted in the same way, but do not forget to draw, for example, a place to study in the interior of the children's room, and a work wall and the location of the kitchen table in the kitchen.

How to draw the interior of a room on a computer

Separately, I would like to dwell on ways to image interiors in perspective using a computer, because modern technologies allow this to be done even with minimal knowledge of the relevant software. In drawing on a computer, we will be helped by fairly common programs such as Paint, Adobe Photoshop or Corel, which are present both in a paid version and in shareware demo versions, the validity period of which is quite enough to create many drawings throughout the repair process. In the next article, we will dwell on drawing programs in more detail, and now a few visual lessons on the phased image of the interior using the Paint.net program.

Screenshot of the main page of the program Paint.net

Before you is a screenshot (screen image) of the initial page of the Paint.net program. As you can see, the interface is intuitive, the Russian-language version, there are a lot of drawing tools, the color scheme includes at least 24 shades.

We begin to draw the interior of the room in stages

And now in the photo - we draw with the image of the vanishing point and the edge of the paper using the "Line" tool with a thickness of 5 px (pixels), images of links with inserted text. For ease of perception, color selection is used - lines and inscriptions are made in blue and red tones.

Draw the outlines of the furniture

Using the tool "Basic" - "Rectangle", add the back of the sofa and the fireplace wall, using the tool "Line" draw lines for the walls, doors and floor. In addition, there are opportunities to draw jagged lines, ellipses, circles, links and arrows; you can choose different colors, fonts, sizes and text layout; overlay layers; smoothing and clarity; dotted lines and rows of small dots - the possibilities of the program are almost endless.

Draw the outlines of the furniture

In the same unpretentious way, you can draw the rest of the interior, which will be clearer and more even than on a sketch by hand, but first practice on light images.

How to draw a room interior online

When planning the interior, you can seek help from professional designers who will be able to realize your wishes regarding the arrangement of a house or apartment online. However, this pleasure costs money, so it directly depends on your financial capabilities.

Main page of the site for interior planning online

Another screenshot of the online planner page, which, in addition to arranging furniture and decor, provides for choosing the exact size of the room area, which is necessary when planning repairs and design, offers several options for windows, doors, ceilings and other structural elements. Read our advice, take a pencil and a piece of paper, download a computer program and start learning, because graphics, including computer graphics, are a very exciting and interesting activity. And if it also helps you make a beautiful stylish repair, then this is exactly what we expected.

Have you ever imagined what your room would look like if you moved your bed or chest of drawers? Or what would your living room look like if you moved the sofa, armchairs and TV? It takes a lot of effort to rearrange everything around and just see what your “design project” will look like. This wonderful blog tutorial will teach you how to draw a room, hall or foyer during frontal perspective so you can decorate the interior however you like!

Of course, at first this lesson may seem simple and uninteresting to you, but it shows basic steps for building a frontal perspective of a room, which will lay the foundation for the correct construction of any room in the future.

In this lesson we will learn frontal perspective: This is a drawing technique in which all objects are related to a single central point in the drawing. This perspective is also referred to as the "single vanishing point" perspective. Do not confuse with angular perspective, although they are based on the same principle. Angular perspective only uses two vanishing points in your drawings with special alignment to create depth.

I will not explain how to draw furniture in this tutorial. Now let's let's focus on drawing a really big 3D space, which you can fill in yourself with the help of your imagination.

1. Let's start drawing from the back wall of the room. Draw two horizontal lines parallel to the top edge of your notebook and two vertical lines parallel to the side edges of the sheet. It is very important.

2. Place an anchor point in the center of the resulting square.

3. Lightly draw a guide line diagonally across the corners of the room and straight through the anchor point in the center. You can use a ruler or the edge of paper.

4. Also lightly guide the second guide through opposite corners of the room straight through the center anchor point.

5. Now erase all the lines inside the square, leaving only the anchor point in the center.

6. Lightly mark the location of the front door. Notice how the concept of size is used. The lower edge of the door is drawn larger to create the illusion of proximity. Draw the floor, walls, ceiling, always keep the size rule in mind.

7. Using the center anchor point, lightly draw a line across the near edge of the door to this very point. This point will become the position for almost every line in this drawing.

8. Draw a window on the opposite wall, starting with two vertical lines. Don't forget to make the near line longer.

9. Once again, focusing on the center point, draw straight lines - the upper and lower edges of the window. It worked out well, didn't it?

10. Horizontal and vertical lines are used to draw door and window slopes. Draw horizontal lines to indicate the thickness of doors, windows, and stairs.

11. Now draw a vertical line to define the window slope.

12. This step is very important in this lesson. Using the center anchor point, lightly draw the top and bottom lines of the window. Voila! You have created a frontal window! Now let's work on the stairs.

13. Using the back wall as a reference, draw horizontal and vertical lines to create the far end of the stairs. Remember in step 1 how I said about the importance of the first horizontal and vertical lines? And that's why. All other horizontal and vertical lines must be parallel to the first, otherwise your drawing will visually fall apart.

14. Time to use the center anchor point again. Draw each corner of the step using this point. Make a light sketch of the lines away from the center, as in the illustration below.

15. Erase all extra lines. Sharpen all edges to create focus in your drawing. Color your drawing according to the light coming from the left window and from the ceiling. If the light is on the ceiling, where should the shadows be? You can add parquet and a row of light bulbs on the ceiling. Redraw this a few times, experimenting with different doors and windows.

LESSON 22: PRACTICE

Try to draw your room. Sit at your desk, on the bed, on the floor, where you feel comfortable and have the best view of the room. Position your canvas so that the vertical edge of your sheet aligns with the far corner of your room when you close one eye.

Draw everything you see: the edges of the walls, ceiling, floor, windows and furniture. Try not to move your paper. Put it on the scanner and make a copy.

Use a pencil to color the copy, add tones. Pay attention to "hidden" shadows, drop shadows, and shading in the real world, and how position, size, and overlap visually impact. Funny?

Get inspired by the example!

If you are thinking of renovating or simply deciding to move furniture, it is important to present the result before the work begins. At the same time, your idea alone will not be enough, because in order for the work to be successful, you need to clearly present the result and build an action plan from it. Therefore, you will need to make a drawing of a room with furniture in pencil. Let's try to figure out how to do it right.

perspective

The first thing we need when deciding to draw a room design is building a frontal perspective. But first, let's define why it is needed, what it is.

What is perspective?

This is a special distortion of real proportions and a change in the shape of objects in the figure. This is done to make the image more realistic. For example, a straight road when viewed in perspective will connect to a point extending into the horizon.

Frontal perspective implies that all elements of the picture will be related to one point, which is called the vanishing point. At this stage, it should be remembered that there is also an angular perspective. Although the principle of construction of these two types will be the same, they have differences and should not be confused. Angular perspective uses two vanishing points and an alignment that allows you to create depth in the drawing.

So, let's look at how to create an almost real three-dimensional room on a flat sheet of paper in the form of a drawing with furniture in pencil.

We draw a room

Let's try to depict any fantasy room, but first let's prepare a little.

What will be needed?

To create a sketch, we need quite a bit:

  1. Several well-sharpened simple pencils with varying softness.
  2. Eraser to remove unnecessary lines, sketch adjustments.
  3. Ruler for drawing straight lines.
  4. Colored pencils if you want to color the sketch.
  5. Pencil sharpener.
  6. Several sheets of paper to work on.

Preparation is complete - you can get to work. A simple sequence of actions will help you do this.

Steps:

  1. First, let's turn to the back wall of the room, using a ruler, draw two horizontal lines that will be parallel to the top of our sheet.
  2. Draw two vertical lines parallel to the sides of the sheet, respectively. As a result, we should get a square.
  3. We put a dot in the center of our square. It will be the very reference point of the drawing of the room with furniture.
  4. Next, you need to draw with a pencil without strong pressure two guide lines diagonally from one corner to the other so that they intersect at the reference point.
  5. After that, we can erase all the lines inside the square, leaving only the vanishing point, which is located in the center. We got a sketch of the room in perspective, but this is just the beginning.
  6. Next, we begin to make a basting of the door. When working, do not press too hard on the pencil so that you have the opportunity to correct the drawing in case of a mistake. Please note that we are drawing in volume, so in the drawing the bottom of the door or doorway should be slightly wider than the top.
  7. In the same way, we draw the floor, walls, while always remembering to create the illusion of volume.
  8. From the vanishing point, draw a slightly visible line to the near side of the door. It will become the reference for the rest of the drawing of the room with furniture.
  9. Draw a window opening. Usually it is located opposite the door. Don't forget to create volume, and make the bottom lines a little bigger than the top ones.
  10. Draw slopes for windows and doors using horizontal and vertical stripes. In the same way, draw a sketch for the stairs.
  11. For the drawing of the stairs, you can take the back wall of the room as a basis. Based on her model, we draw horizontal and vertical lines to get the far part of the stairs.

Important! When creating a drawing, all straight lines must be parallel to the very first. Otherwise, the purity of the drawing and perspective may not work.

The sketch drawing is almost ready, if the result does not satisfy you, you can try a few more times: rearrange the objects in the drawing, arrange different lighting. Next, you can try to draw a sketch of your room.

We make a sketch from a real object:

  1. First, find a convenient point from which you will have a good view of the room.
  2. Position yourself comfortably as you will have to keep the sheet still for a while.
  3. Also place the paper in such a way that when you close one eye, it is parallel, or better, coincides with the farthest corner of the room from you.
  4. Next - without moving the sheet from its place, sketch all the elements that you see in the room: walls, floor, ceiling, furniture, textiles and lighting.
  5. Afterwards, you can relax a little. The sheet must be scanned and a copy printed. The scanned sheet is colored with a pencil, adding details, light and shadow.

Important! When adding details, do not overdo it. First, make a light sketch, and after that, complete its lines and draw shadows.

  1. When creating a drawing, work carefully and carefully - any inaccuracy can lead to skewed parts relative to each other.
  2. Don't forget to use a ruler. A freehand drawing, of course, looks more lively, but if we talk about accuracy, a ruler is the best assistant.
  3. In order not to confuse the guides and the main lines, you can shade the areas of the floor and ceiling, or work with different colors.
  4. If you want to complete the drawing, you can decorate walls and other surfaces with patterns, paintings, or graffiti.
  5. For the correct location of furniture and other large objects in the room, be guided by the guide lines.
  6. At the end of the work, do not forget to remove unnecessary lines with an eraser.

Of course, the first time you are unlikely to draw a perfect drawing, but with a little practice, you will get an excellent drawing of a room with furniture and other items.

We have dismantled one of the complex options for drawing a room. Such a sketch will turn out to be very beautiful and detailed, but sometimes it is simply not necessary. So next, talk about how to create a simple plan drawing of a room with furniture in pencil.

Scheme

If you are going to make a rearrangement, you do not need to imagine how the furniture will look. It is more important here that it fits in a given space, so it will be easier and more convenient to make a pencil drawing of a room with furniture - a top view.

Important! For work, you can use computer programs. But if they are not installed, then it is pointless to waste time downloading and learning their functions. It's much faster to do it manually.

We'll need

Everything is very simple here:

  • tape measure for measuring real objects;
  • eraser and sharpened pencil;
  • sharpener;
  • ruler;
  • paper on which we will draw up a plan and a sheet in a cage.

Having prepared everything necessary, we begin work.

Sequencing

The work is quite simple, if you are attentive to the dimensions, and follow the following steps:

  1. The first step is to draw on the sheet the shape of your room with all the curves of the walls.
  2. Next, using a tape measure, measure all the dimensions of the walls, write them down on the drawing of the room with furniture.
  3. After - on the sketch mark the location of the batteries, risers, windows and doors. The area that is involved when opening the door is drawn as a quarter of a circle and shaded.
  4. Do not forget to mark on the diagram where the sockets and switches are located.
  5. Next, we move on to measuring the dimensions of the furniture. If there are no niches in the room, then the height of the objects is not important to us.
  6. But the height of the room will need to be measured and noted next to the drawing.
  7. After all the measurements, take a piece of paper in a cage or drawing paper, and draw up a neat drawing of the room. To do this, choose the optimal scale. A ratio of 1:20 is considered convenient, but you can choose any convenient for you.
  8. Let's use a pencil and a ruler, and draw the perimeter of the room according to the selected scale.
  9. Next, we will transfer all the furniture, windows, doors and sockets from the sketch. You can use a compass to mark where the door opens.
  10. The final step will be to remove jagged lines with an eraser and mark the scale and actual dimensions on the drawing.

Important! To make the schema understandable, you do not need to overload it and sign each object. It is enough to shade them in different ways and take the hatching out of the drawing as symbols.
