Course progress:

Let me introduce you an amazingly beautiful peony flower.
 It is worth the first rain in spring, during which "one pours, another drinks, the third grows", as if from a ground, as if by magic, "raspberry" candles "pop out", which turn into lushly flowering bushes.

Take a look at the bright, lush petals of a peony. One poet compared them to the skirts of dancing girls. Do you agree with him? How do you think peony petals look like skirts of dancing girls? And what do you think a peony looks like? (Answers of children).

Unfortunately, the peony, having blossomed, quickly fades and showers petals. There is even a saying about this: "Peonies are looked after for a year, and they are admired by them for ten days."

Peony petals come in all shades of red. Look at this color chart. She will help you remember the shades of red. Name them. (Answers of children). Pink, raspberry, scarlet, burgundy (red-blue). But this shade is called purple. Red violet. Repeat this word and try to remember.

Peonies are not only pleasing with their beauty. They also cure diseases. In some countries, boiled peony tubers are eaten. Raw tubers are poisonous. But poisonous to humans. In Crimea, wild boars eat them both cheeks. How do you understand this expression? (Answers of children). “Gouging on both cheeks” means eating with great pleasure, with appetite.

Peony flower consists of many petals. When the flower is fully blooming, hard seeds are clearly visible in the middle of it. So the flower attracts birds that peck them and spread them around. Peony flowers rich in pollen are pollinated - by the wind, small bugs, bees, bumblebees and ants.

The peonies that stand in the vase in front of you are garden flowers. What does it mean? (Answers of children). Garden flowers are those planted and grown by people in gardens. And in these pictures are wild Crimean peonies. Explain to me the meaning of the word “wild”. (Answers of children). These peonies grow themselves in nature, without human intervention. All of them, as befits peonies, the flowers are beautiful, bright, noticeable. From that they suffer. All wild-growing peonies of Crimea are listed in the Red Book. What does it mean? (Answers of children). The number of peonies in the Crimea is decreasing; you cannot tear it.
 Peonies flowers are fast growing. What does it mean? (Answers of children). Peonies grow fast. But even faster breaks their people. People tear them both for themselves and for sale, carry out from the forest armfuls, buckets, baskets and even bags. It depends on us Crimeans whether peonies will please their beauty, or whether they will disappear from our land forever, wilted in someone's vase. If during walks in the woods you encounter a peony, how will you behave? (Answers of children). Admire its beauty, but do not tear it, in a vase it will wither the very next day, and the forest will lose its beauty, insects - pollen.

The peony has an unusual smell. There are garden peonies smelling like roses. And wild peonies smell a bit bitter. Why does a peony have such a smell, the legend explains. Listen to her.

The legend of peony

“A girl named Pionia was about to marry her lover Simeon, just as her mother died, leaving six children. Pionia aspired with all her heart to the groom, but the promise made to her mother to take care of her younger brothers and sisters did not allow her to leave her home.

Kids grew up, arranged them Peony, as best she could. And Simeon went to distant lands. But every two years he sent the bride his postal dove with a news question - is it time for him to return?
 Time is running fast. Finally, Pionia raised her younger siblings. And then trouble again: the elder sister died and her small children remained orphans. And again, good Pionia is full of cares and troubles.

Years passed ... Pionia became old, nobody needs it. She then remembered about Simeon and sent news to him in a foreign land. And she herself got ready for the wedding: she put on a white dress, a veil, and so for days spent looking for her fiance.
 People laughed at her, but she did not pay attention to them and kept waiting for Simeon, but he did not go. But the ruthless death is right there. Pionia was buried, and suddenly a stranger appeared. This Simeon, having overcome deserts and seas, forests and swamps, finally got to his beloved.

“So this is where we met, my Peony,” he said, as if she could hear him, “and I was in such a hurry to see you soon.” I brought you a flower and named it after you Peony. And his smell is as bittersweet as our unhappy love. ” And, bending down, Simeon planted a flower brought from distant lands on the grave ... "

Is it a sad legend?

Now let's fashion a peony flower from plasticine. Choose the clay of the shade of red that you liked the most, and start sculpting the petals. Think in what way it is more convenient to sculpt them? (Answers of children). After rolling the ball, flatten it to an oval shape. Attach the petals to the base one by one. And from the grains of wheat, make the center of the flower. (Children do the work, then consider the finished "peonies").

A tree peony will be a great solution. Unlike its grassy counterparts, it grows in a fairly tall (up to 2 meters) bush, and its lush and incredibly fragrant flowers reach a diameter of 20-25 cm.

In China, where the tree peony comes from, this plant is loved and revered. A special role in its distribution fell to the lot of Buddhist monks who traveled around the country and brought varieties from remote areas to their monasteries.

Growing tree-shaped peonies takes longer than the more familiar grassy ones. But the cost of effort and time is worth it, because a correctly planted bush can grow in one place for several tens, or even hundreds of years.

Types of Peonies

In the Celestial Empire, more than a thousand varieties of this plant were bred, some of which are currently actively grown outside the country. In the gardens, you can often find Paeonia suffruticosa - a shrub peony (or just a tree peony). The color and "terry" of its flowers depend on the variety. So, peonies "Anastasia Sosnovets" are deprived of terry, while semi-double flowers have bushes of the sort "Maria". Lovers of lush terry buds will like the Natalie variety.

Advice! Tree peony is a fairly resistant shrub to frost. But if the air temperature in the winter still drops too low, it is better to choose specially bred frost-resistant varieties (Peter the Great, Hoffman, Moscow University, etc.)

In Russia, Ukraine, and other post-Soviet countries, tree peonies are rarely used in landscape design , since for a long time many species and varieties of peonies growing in the mountains of China were inaccessible to gardeners in other countries.

Of particular interest in this sense are Peony Yellow and Delaware. Unlike the tree-shaped peony, they have not one large flower on the shoot, but several smaller ones (4-9 cm). The color of the Yellow Peonies is clear from the name, while Delaware have brown flowers. These species bloom later than Paeonia suffruticosa.

Idea! By planting several varieties at once in the garden (for example, Treelike, Yellow Peony and Delaway, you will achieve a longer flowering time).

Planting and caring for a tree peony cannot be called too complicated. However, it is better to follow the recommendations exactly to protect the bush from disease.

Landing rules

Planting tree-shaped peonies is perhaps the most crucial moment, since the bush will grow in one place for a very long time. Before planting a tree peony, several preparatory steps should be taken.

When choosing a place for landing, rely on the following criteria:

 • No draft. The tree-like peony does not tolerate well when its leaves (and even more so - flowers) are rattled by the wind.
 • Moderate shading.
 • The lack of weeds.

Advice! Choose a place away from buildings, trees and other bushes. A tree peony requires a lot of space. In addition, keep in mind that the bush can live for about a hundred years, which means that the territory allotted for it will not be liberated for a long time.

Seedling requirements

Saplings of a tree peony should have 2-3 stiff processes, 20-25 cm high. Pay attention to the root system: there should be no damage and thinning.
 When buying a shoot, find out the variety. Check if he copes well with frost. Take an interest in the color of the petals.

Landing

Some buy a tree peony in spring. However, it is best to land in the fall (late August - early September).

Advice! A seedling bought in the spring can be planted in a pot so that in autumn the plant can be transshipped with an earthen lump into the ground.

First of all, you need to dig an extensive (70 × 70 cm) pit. The further course of action is as follows:

 • Cover the bottom of the pit with drainage (sand, gravel, gravel), since the peony does not tolerate stagnation of water at the roots.
 • Mix half of the dug soil with superphosphate, dolomite flour and potassium sulfate (one glass each) and fill the pit with this mixture until the middle. Tamp.
 • Add 2 buckets of compost to the remaining land. Pour into a hole so that there is room for a seedling.
 • Set the shoot. The root neck should be in line with the soil.
 • Pour the soil around the seedling, fill the hole completely.
 • The landing site is covered with humus. Sawdust and needles are not applicable here, they can provoke bush diseases.

Breeding

Propagation of a tree peony is carried out in several ways:

Division of the bush. This becomes possible when the plant is already 5-6 years old. The bush is dug up, the roots are washed and divided. In each part there must be at least three shoots. Damaged roots are lubricated with potassium permanganate and sprinkled with charcoal.

Layering. One of the lower shoots before flowering (in May) is cut, bent and sprinkled with earth. In autumn, a rooted shoot is separated and planted.

Air lay. The incised shoot is not sprinkled with earth, but wrapped with moss and film. This option is ineffective.

Cuttings. It is carried out in mid-July. Choose a woody half-shoot with kidneys. The cuticle of a tree peony is cut obliquely under the kidney, treated with a growth agent. Cuttings are planted in a mixture of peat and river sand at an angle so that the kidney is completely immersed in the ground. Drawers tighten the film or cover

 • Peony is rarely watered. 1-2 times for 6-7 liters in June and July. In August, they do not water.
 • In spring, you need to remove the mulch, loosen the ground, remove weeds. Mineral fertilizers should be applied as soon as the snow melts (Kemira is suitable). Before budding and after flowering, it is useful to feed the peony with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. It is best to make these solutions during watering. Good effect on the plant ash.
 • Pruning is carried out in the spring. Healthy branches are cut to the first living kidney, weakened - about 15 cm.
 • After flowering, not only cut the bud, but also shorten the branch by 2 buds.
 • In winter, peony branches are tied up, roots are covered with spruce branches, and the bush itself is covered with a bag.
 • With strong humidity and shade, the peony may undergo gray rot. To avoid this, follow the landing rules. If the disease still affects the plant, it is recommended to spray the bush with a solution of potassium permanganate. To prepare it, you need 3 g per 10 liters of water. You can also use a 0-6% solution of copper sulfate.
 • Fungal diseases rarely occur and easily disappear when sprayed with fungicides. Damaged branches, of course, are cut off.
 • The main enemy of the tree bush are mice.

Advice! If there are rodents on the site, protect the planting pit with a net to protect the roots of the plant.

Rhubarb can not be found in every garden plot. It's a pity. This plant is a storehouse of vitamins and can be widely used in cooking. What they don’t cook from rhubarb: soups and cabbage soup, salads, delicious jam, kvass, compotes and juices, candied fruit and marmalade, and even wine. But that is not all! A large green or red rosette of plant leaves, resembling burdock, acts as a beautiful background for annuals. Not surprisingly, rhubarb can also be seen on flower beds.

3 delicious sandwiches - a cucumber sandwich, a chicken sandwich, a cabbage and meat sandwich - a great idea for a quick snack or for a picnic in nature. Only fresh vegetables, juicy chicken and cream cheese and a little seasoning. In these sandwiches there is no onion, if desired, you can add onion marinated in balsamic vinegar to any of the sandwiches, this taste will not spoil. Having quickly prepared snacks, it remains to collect a picnic basket and go to the nearest green lawn.

Depending on the variety group, the age of seedlings suitable for planting in open ground is: for early tomatoes - 45-50 days, average ripening time - 55-60 and late maturity - at least 70 days. When planting tomato seedlings at a younger age, the period of its adaptation to new conditions is significantly extended. But success in obtaining a high-quality tomato crop also depends on careful implementation of the basic rules for planting seedlings in open ground.

Unpretentious plants of the "second plan" sansevieria do not seem boring to those who appreciate minimalism. They are better than other indoor decorative leaf stars for collections requiring minimal maintenance. Stable decorativeness and extreme endurance in only one species of sansevieria are combined with compactness and very rapid growth - rosette sansevieria Khan. The squat rosettes of their hard leaves create striking bands and patterns.

One of the brightest months of the garden calendar pleasantly surprises with the balanced distribution of favorable and unsuccessful days for working with plants on the lunar calendar. In June, you can engage in a garden and a garden throughout the whole month, while the adverse periods are very short and still allow you to do useful work. There will be their optimal days for crops with planting, and for pruning, and for a reservoir, and even for construction work.

Meat with mushrooms in a pan is an inexpensive hot dish that is suitable for a regular dinner and for a festive menu. Pork is cooked quickly, veal and chicken, too, so this meat is preferred for the recipe. Mushrooms - fresh champignons, in my opinion, the most successful choice for homemade stew. Forest gold - mushrooms, butter and other goodies are better prepared for the winter. Boiled rice or mashed potatoes are ideal as a side dish.

I love ornamental shrubs, especially unpretentious and with interesting, non-trivial foliage. I have different Japanese spireas, Thunberg barberries, black elderberry ... And there is one special shrub that I will discuss in this article - the common vesicular. For the realization of my dream of a garden that does not require much care, it is perhaps perfect. At the same time, he is able to diversify the picture in the garden very much, moreover, from spring to autumn.

It is no coincidence that June remains one of the favorite months of gardeners. The first crop, new crops for vacant places, the rapid growth of plants - all this can not but rejoice. But the main enemies of gardeners and the inhabitants of the beds - pests and weeds - also this month use every opportunity for their distribution. Sowing work this month is declining, and planting seedlings reaches its peak. June lunar calendar for vegetables is balanced.

Many owners of cottages, arranging the territory, are thinking about creating a lawn. Imagination draws, as a rule, magical pictures - an even carpet of green grass, a hammock, a deck chair, a barbecue and beautiful trees and shrubs around the perimeter ... But when faced with a breakdown of the lawn in practice, many people are surprised to learn that it is not so easy to create a beautiful smooth lawn . And, it would seem, everything was done correctly, but here and there strange bumps or weeds sprout.

The June schedule of gardening is able to surprise anyone with its richness. In June, even lawns and ponds require attention. Some ornamental plants have already completed flowering and need pruning, while others are only preparing for the upcoming show. And to sacrifice a decorative garden in order to better take care of the ripening crop is not the best idea. There will be time in the June lunar calendar to plant new perennials and pottery compositions.

Pork leg cold terrine is a meat appetizer from the category of budget recipes, because pork legs are one of the cheapest parts of carcasses. Despite the modesty of the ingredients, the appearance of the dish and its taste are top notch! Translated from French, this "game dish" is a cross between a pate and a casserole. Since during the time of technological progress, game hunters became smaller, terrine is often prepared from livestock meat, fish, vegetables, and cold terrines are also made.

In cute pots or trendy florariums, on walls, tables and window sills - succulents can withstand weeks without watering. They do not change their character and do not perceive conditions comfortable for most capricious indoor plants. And their diversity will allow everyone to find their favorite. Similar to stones, or to fancy flowers, or to extravagant sticks or lace, fashionable succulents have long been not limited to cacti and fat plants.

Strawberry trifle is a light dessert common in England, the USA and Scotland. I think this dish is cooked all over the place, just called in different ways. The triple consists of 3 to 4 layers: fresh fruit or fruit jelly, biscuit cookies or biscuit, whipped cream. Usually a custard is prepared for the layer, but for an easy dessert they prefer to do without it, enough whipped cream. This dessert is prepared in a deep transparent salad bowl so that the layers are visible.

Weeds are bad. They prevent cultivated plants from growing. Some wild grasses and shrubs are poisonous or may cause allergies. At the same time, many weeds can be of great benefit. They are used both as medicinal herbs, and as an excellent mulch or component of green fertilizer, and as a means of repelling harmful insects and rodents. But in order to properly fight or use this or that plant for the good, it needs to be recognized.

Beautiful peony flowers. Peony is the king of flowers. So many call it because it is a very beautiful, magnificent flower with a delicate captivating aroma.

In China, it is a symbol of wealth, nobility and prosperity. It is believed that evil spirits are afraid of him and never appear where peonies bloom. This flower has been cultivated in China for over 1,500 years.

At first, he grew up mainly in the gardens of the Empresses. And it was unavailable to ordinary people, because it cost a lot of money. In our time, the flower is still revered and in the Middle Kingdom you can find peony gardens, where there is nothing more than peonies. The Chinese have composed many legends about this wonderful flower.

And here is one of the legends. "The Spirit of the Peony"

A long time ago, a talented young scientist lived in China. He devoted his life to the study of peonies. His garden was fragrant with a huge number of these beautiful flowers. And once he was sitting in his beautiful garden and studying the next scientific book. Suddenly a beautiful girl appeared in front of him.

She asked to shelter her and give any kind of work. The scientist lived alone and agreed. They began to spend a lot of time together. The girl was smart and educated, it was interesting to spend time with her. They fell in love with each other. And the scientist decided to make her his wife. He invited a priest to the house and told his beloved about it.

But instead of being happy, the girl disappeared somewhere. An excited scientist began looking for her in the house. But he couldn’t catch up, she slipped away from him like a ghost. When nevertheless he managed to grab her. That girl suddenly became very small, and disappeared into the wall of the house.

Instead of her on the wall he saw a huge, beautiful peony and lips of a girl who whispered: “Forgive me, my beloved. After all, I am not a man, but the spirit of a peony. Your love warmed me and I could maintain the appearance of a person. But the soon appearance of the priest destroyed everything and I can no longer stay with you. Goodbye, I'm coming back to my beautiful flowers. Remember me, I will always be with you while peonies are blooming in your garden. ”

And the flower disappeared from the wall of the house. The scientist was inconsolable, he planted even more peonies in his garden and, breathing in their fragrance, imagined that his beloved was nearby.

In ancient Greece, a flower was considered a symbol of longevity and its name comes from the Greek word "paionios". Translated sounds like a healing, healing. According to another version, the name came from the name of the area where one of the varieties of peony comes from, it was called Peonia.

And here is what the Greek legend says about its name: in antiquity there lived one skilled doctor named Peon. He was a pupil of Aesculapius, but excelled him in skill. Since it had a mysterious plant that possessed healing properties.

And when he healed from wounds and rejuvenated the god of the underworld of Hades. That Aesculapius, with envy, decided at all costs to destroy Peon. But the god of hell could not allow this and turned Peon into a beautiful flower with medicinal properties. So the flower got its nickname Peony evasive. Since he managed to evade revenge.

And still this plant is used as healing. For such purposes, use Paeonia officinalis. For treatment, the root of the peony is used mainly. It helps with menstrual irregularities, with epilepsy, gout, colds, nephritis, hypertension, diabetes, gastric diseases, acute respiratory infections, bronchitis and tuberculosis, and so on ...

Peonies are grassy (ordinary flower with a stalk) and tree-like (shrubs). These plants are perennial. And how many varieties they have! From white to dark burgundy and purple. I love these flowers, as they bloom in our area in early June, and 30 is my birthday. The strongest aroma of flowers is white and pink. That's what I love them.

Of course, Peter the Great brought them to us in Russia. And in the first half of the nineteenth century, peonies grew mainly in the so-called Pharmaceutical Gardens and among wealthy people.

Impressed by what I read about this beautiful flower, I wanted to make a slide show with beautiful music. Watch a video with great relaxing music

Beautiful flowers peonies, the legend of peony, how they appeared in Russia.

 We have long been accustomed to the fact that almost every garden is replete with flowers that not only bring rainbow colors to the outside world, but also pamper us with their fragrance. What kind of flowers are these? And this peonies, which are not only beautiful, but also useful, because they have a wide spectrum of action. Thanks to its medicinal properties, this plant has found application in medicine, both in traditional and in folk. The types, properties and application of peony will be discussed later.

Peony plant description

What does it look like?

Peony belongs to the class of perennials and can be grassy, semi-shrubby or shrubby. This plant may have several stems, the height of which rarely exceeds 1 m.

Peony has a large rhizome with powerful thickened cone-shaped roots.

The leaves of the peony are arranged in the next order (they can be pinnate or triple). The color of peony leaves varies from dark green to dark purple (rare specimens with a blue color are rare). In autumn, the leaves become yellow, brown and even reddish.

Single peony flowers in diameter reach a mark of 15 - 25 cm.

The peony fruit is a complex star-shaped multi-leaf. Sufficiently large seeds of a black plant differ in a round or oval shape.

Peony is famous and loved by many gardeners for its beautiful lush flowers, which are blue, white, yellow, red (it all depends on the type of peony). Mostly the flowers of a peony are single and apical (in other words, most of the stems of the plant end with one beautiful flower). Although there are varieties of peony, on the stems of which not only central but also lateral buds are formed (there can be from 5 to 7 such buds), while the lateral flowers bloom only after the central flower fades. It is the lateral buds, the sizes of which are smaller in comparison with the central ones, that ensure the flowering of the peony bush.

Interesting fact! In one season, the peony changes its color three times: for example, in the spring the leaves of the plant acquire a purplish red hue, while in the summer they become dark green, and in the fall the peony “dresses” in purple, crimson or yellow-green foliage.

We can not say that the peony is a drought-and frost-resistant plant that quickly recovers even after sufficiently severe damage, and all due to the fact that this plant has a large number of reserve buds.

Peony family

Peony is the only genus of the Peony family (Paeoniaceae).

Meaning of the name peony

According to one version, the name of the flower is derived from the Greek word "paionios", which translates as "healing, healing."

But there is another version that is associated with the ancient Greek myth, which tells of the doctor Peon, who cured Hades (the god of the underworld of the dead) after his battle with Hercules. According to the myth, Asclepius (the god of healing, who was the teacher of Peon) envied the amazing gift of his student, so he decided to poison him. But Peon found out about the intentions of his mentor and asked the Greek gods to intercede for him. The gods in gratitude turned Peon into a flower.

It is also said that the flower owes its name to a small place in Peony, located in Thrace (Balkan Peninsula), because it is here that peonies grow literally everywhere.

Where do peonies grow?

Today, peonies can be found in almost every garden, but in the wild this plant grows mainly in the forest strip of the European part of Russia, on the Kola Peninsula, in the western regions of Yakutia, in the eastern part of Transbaikalia. Peony is especially common in Western and Eastern Siberia.

This plant prefers well-lit (or slightly shaded) and well-warmed by the sun forest glades, edges, meadows, glades.

Bloom

Peonies bloom at the end of spring, although much depends on weather conditions: for example, the timing of flowering plants shift in some years.

The duration of flowering depends, first of all, on the peony variety and is about 8-16 days, while for varieties with lateral buds, this period is extended to 18-25 days.

Peony storage

For medicinal purposes, grass is used, as well as peony roots. In this case, the aerial part is harvested during flowering, that is, from May to June. The roots are most often harvested in the same period.

Rhizomes and roots are washed in running water, and then dried in the attic or under a canopy.

The aboveground part is dried in the same way. You can dry the raw materials in the dryers, but the temperature in them should not be higher than 45 - 60 degrees.

It is important not only to dry properly, but also to store the plant. To do this, place the dried raw materials in paper or fabric bags, while the packaging should be hermetically sealed.

Shelf life of raw materials is not more than three years.

Peony varieties

There are about 5000 varieties of peonies, some of which have medicinal properties and are used in folk medicine to treat various diseases. We will talk about them further.

Tree peony

Tree peonies are deciduous shrubs with lignified shoots. The height of this type of peony reaches a mark of 1 - 1.5 m, while in the southern regions you can find specimens whose height is about 2.5 m.

Treelike peonies are rightfully considered long-livers, since they can grow in one place on the order of 100 - 150 years. They prefer light and windproof places.

The flowers of the tree peony, which on one bush can form up to 30 - 70 pieces, are very large (in diameter they can reach 25 - 30 cm). The flowers of a tree peony have the shape of a bowl or ball. They bloom in late May, while their flowering lasts about two weeks.

Tree peonies can be white, pink, yellow, red and purple.

This type of peony has healing properties. So, the roots of the plant contain substances that contribute to blood thinning. In addition, preparations based on a tree peony have anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, tonic, anticidal and decongestant effects, normalize high blood pressure and prevent blood clots.

Given all of the above, it is not surprising that this plant is actively used in Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese and Korean medicine in the treatment of the following diseases:

 • arthritis;
 • arthrosis;
 • headache;
 • diabetes;
 • cardiovascular disease;
 • tumors;
 • kidney disease
 • poisoning;
 • sores;
 • stress;
 • persistent night fever;
 • carbuncles;
 • cough;
 • hemoptysis.
 To prepare the infusion, peony flowers (you can also use the roots of the plant) are poured with boiling water (1 tablespoon of raw material is poured with a glass of boiling water) and infused for about 10 - 15 minutes. The received product is taken 2 to 3 times a day for a third of a glass.

Peony yellow

This is one of the varieties of tree peony, the area of which covers mainly China.

Yellow peony is a shrub or a shrub up to one meter high. Single flowers, the diameter of which varies between 5 - 10 cm, are golden or copper-yellow in color, their petals can have both round and elliptical shapes.

Yellow peony blooms in June.

This variety of peony (mainly plant roots) is used in Tibetan medicine in the treatment of nosebleeds, migraines, radiculitis, joint pain, depression, gynecological diseases, diabetes mellitus, thrombophlebitis.

To prepare a decoction, 1 tsp. dry crushed peony roots pour 500 ml of water, and then the resulting product is boiled for 20 minutes. The cooled and filtered broth is drunk 100 ml three times a day.

Peony red

Red peony has a branched stem, short rhizome and large serrated leaves. Plant height rarely exceeds one meter. Large single flowers of the plant can be either pink or dark red.

Interesting fact! Red peony belongs to the family of the Ranunculaceae, and not the Peony, but because of its resemblance to the peony, this plant is often referred to the second family.

Important! The plant is poisonous!

In medical practice, plant petals collected during flowering are used (raw materials are collected in dry weather, dried in the sun or in dryers at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees). The roots of the red peony are harvested from September to November, then they are washed and dried in the sun or in the dryer.

Red peony, which has anticonvulsant properties, significantly enhances the tone of the uterus, as well as the intestines and urinary tract. In addition, drugs from this plant contribute to blood coagulation.

The intake of red peony preparations is indicated for such diseases:

 • pain in the stomach and intestines;
 • hysteria;
 • rheumatism;
 • whooping cough;
 • asthma;
 • gout;
 • epilepsy;
 • sand and kidney stones.
Infusion of red peony
 1 tbsp 300 ml of cold and necessarily boiled water is poured into the petals of the plant, after which the mixture is infused for 8 hours, filtered and taken 100 ml three times a day.

Narrow-leaved peony (thin-leaved)

The narrow-leaved peony (it is also called thin-leaved) has an elongated rhizome of a pineal shape. The stems of the plant are bare, and in height reach no more than 50 cm.

This type of peony can "boast" of large flowers of regular shape, which are located at the very top of the stem. Flowers have about 8 - 10 large petals of bright red color.

Important! Narrow-leaved peony is an endangered plant, which is rarely found in the forest-steppe part of Crimea, Russia and Ukraine (this type of peony is listed in the Red Books of two countries).

Since natural preparations of this plant are excluded, the thin-leaved peony is introduced into the culture, that is, it is grown on specially designated plantations.

For medicinal purposes, plant grass is used, cut off during the flowering of the plant, as well as pineal rhizomes. All parts of the narrow-leaved peony contain flavonoids, as well as tannins, while a large amount of vitamin C is present in fresh leaves.

Narrow-leaved peony preparations are used in medicine in the treatment of:

 • anemia;
 • epilepsy;
 • poisoning (especially alcohol intoxication);
 • kidney stone disease;
 • hemorrhoids;
 • some heart diseases.
Important! The plant is toxic, as a result of which it is necessary to strictly observe the dosage.

Rhizome Broth

Correctly dried roots have a dark brown or yellowish-brown hue, while the fracture of the roots becomes a whitish-yellowish color, which at the edge turns into lilac. The taste of dry roots and rhizomes is sweet-burning and slightly astringent, and the smell is sharp.
