Photos from the crime scene of a serial killer. The scariest killers in history - photo

Since the invention of the camera, photography has brought joy to many people and has given the world a view from many different angles. Photographs greatly affect people, whether it be shocking shots or pictures filled with kindness. Nevertheless, some photos are so shocking that they are considered too scary or disgusting for wide distribution. But thanks to social networks, we managed to collect the most mysterious, sinister and creepy photos on the Internet.

At first glance, everything is in order in this photo: several divers who enjoy snorkeling. But the diver in the background lies at the bottom separately from the rest. Few people realize that in fact in the background is the corpse of a murder victim, thrown into the ocean a few days before the other two divers decided to dive in the area. The photograph itself does not look scary, but only if you don’t know what story is behind it.

Many do not like spiders, but these trees in Pakistan cause real horror. In 2010, a terrible flood occurred in the country, many areas were flooded, including some parts of Sindh province. Spiders, who could no longer hide on the ground, climbed trees, and remained there. As a result, they made nests in the leaves. In general, Sindh is not a place where people suffering from arachnophobia should go.

Many people know famous characters in horror films such as Jason or Michael Myers, but the most famous and terrible is Freddy Krueger. In this old photograph, which may already seem from this sinister, there are only three children who are looking at the camera. However, in the background you can see a man who froze in a strange position and grins terribly. And he looks suspiciously like Freddy Krueger.

Imagine that you are walking around the city and suddenly stumble upon an ad. A small piece of white paper with handwritten text is stuck with a strange piece of clay. The announcement reads: “While you are reading this, a man is standing high above you in one of the windows and he is shooting you. Then he will make a small doll out of you, plant them with the others and play strange games with them. ” When you read the note, these words will probably be stuck in your mind. After all, you will never know whether there was someone there who would then play something terrible with your doll.

This was painted by a little girl who wanted to tell that she has an imaginary girlfriend. In the figure, the girl wrote: “This is Lisa. She is my friend. My mom and dad don't see her, so they said she was an imaginary friend. Lisa is a good friend. ” However, looking at Lisa, one cannot say that she is such a pleasant friend: she has a bloodied mouth, hands, eyes and chest.

Little is known about this photo. The girl looks at the films in the vending machine, and her head hangs unnaturally back. Some believe that the surveillance camera captured a demon-obsessed girl. The true origin of the image, as well as the circumstances under which it was taken, were not disclosed. One thing is clear: you can’t turn your head like this to avoid serious injury.

In family photos, people usually laugh or smile. Unfortunately, sometimes the situation dramatically unfolds in the other direction. For the family in this photo, everything changed in one second. At that moment, when the photographer pressed the trigger, the corpse, lying for some time under the ceiling, fell next to the family. It is easy to imagine how terrified these people were.

There are many events that mark the beginning of something important in life, and the wedding is one of the main ones. However, as this photo shows, weddings do not always go as planned. While a happy couple got engaged in front of the house, behind them stood a group of strangely dressed people who looked like followers of a cult. They all turned around and watched unsuspecting guests and the newlyweds.

Among the vast collection of creepy items is a pair of gloves made of human skin. Ed Geen, who became famous for other terrible acts, made them from his victims. It is one thing to hear about maniacs, and another to see the fruits of their deeds. The worst thing is that the texture of the skin of the hands is visible on these gloves.

Surely there is nothing worse than realizing that you are about to die. This is exactly what was in the minds of many Auschwitz victims. When they were brought into these cells, people thought it was for something else. In fact, these were gas chambers, and as soon as someone was there, there was no turning back. The photograph shows scratches from the nails of the victims, who realized that they would not get out and were already dying of gas.

It is unlikely that any of the readers know what it means to face their death face to face. Unfortunately, some people have no choice. In this picture with a burning wind turbine, you can see a couple of people standing on top and realizing the horror of their situation. Nothing could be done, the only way out was on fire, and both died.

Just a quick glance at this photo is enough to understand that something is wrong here. The girl seems to be afraid of the photographer and in fear backs away from him. The picture was taken by Robert Ben Rhodes, the serial killer who kidnapped the girl in the photograph. This is 14-year-old Regina Kay Walters, she was also killed. But first, Robert cut her hair and forced her to wear heels and a black dress. It is believed that in the 1989-1990s he tortured, raped and killed more than 50 women, although there is evidence of only three murders.

Even at first glance, this photo is creepy. The child behind the stairs seems to be trying to fit into the frame, but to remain not too noticeable. The worst thing about this famous shot is that it was made in a famous ghost house in Amityville. At the time of the shooting, there were no children in the house, and the photographer did not see anyone behind the stairs. It is believed that this photo is a fake, however, given the location and time, it can be assumed that this image is an eternal mystery.

This creepy shot was taken by a CCTV camera in the hospital a few moments before the death of the patient. Something scary and black is on the bed, bending over the patient. None of the hospital staff saw anyone like them. It is believed that cameras can capture otherworldly phenomena that are not perceived by the human eye. When you see this, it’s hard not to believe in the existence of spirits and demons around us.

Murderers, maniacs, cannibals - all these are criminals guilty of terrible crimes. Among them there are also representatives of the weaker sex, who were not less cruel than men.

There are many maniac killers in the world. They are guilty of the death of several thousand people. According to psychologists, maniacs are people with serious mental disorders caused by childhood mental injuries or congenital diseases.

John Wayne Gacy Jr.

John Wayne Gacy, Jr. (1942-1999). For 6 years this maniac was atrocious, but during this time he managed to rape and kill at least 33 young men. Gacy's involvement in the remaining killings remained unproven. After the criminal was arrested, police found 27 dead bodies in the basement of his Illinois home. The rest of his victims were found in the river a little later. Some of them were in obscene poses, with dildos or members in their mouths. The maniac loved to earn extra money at children's festivities, dressing up as a clown in a red wig. For this, Gacy was nicknamed “Clown Pogo” and “Clown Killer”. The series of murders was based on a sexual motive. In 1980, the offender was sentenced to death, but the sentence was executed only after 14 years with a fatal injection.

Theodore Robert Bundy

Theodore Robert Bundy (1946-1989). The execution of the criminal was committed in 1989 with the help of an electric chair. But the memories of his atrocious activities, which began back in 1974, are still horrifying. When the maniac was caught, he confessed to more than thirty murders. But the investigation suggested that the number of victims could be more than a hundred. At the same time, the maniac did not just calmly and quickly kill his victims - he liked to pre-strangle people doomed to death. Bundy also raped the people he captured, while he did not know the prohibitions in his sexual activity. His sexual contacts were made not only with living people, but also with the already dead.

Sergey Tkach

Sergey Tkach (born 1952). This case turned out to be rather difficult for investigators. Indeed, it was precisely in the internal affairs bodies that the Weaver served at one time. From 1980 to 2005, he raped and then killed 29 girls and girls. Several rape victims were lucky to stay alive. The maniac himself claims to have killed 80 to 100 people. For crimes committed by him, several people were convicted and were serving a prison term. In 2008, the weaver was sentenced to life imprisonment. The maniac accuses his ex-wives of his aggression towards the female sex, who turned him into a monster. The killer’s extraordinary cunning helped him go unpunished for a long time. For example, he carefully hid his tracks, and left the crime scene on the railroad ties so that dogs could not take his track.

Donald Harvey

Donald Harvey (born 1952). Harvey is currently serving her life sentence in a Northern Idaho colony. And before he went to prison, he worked in a hospital. The maniac called himself the "Angel of Death." After all, over twenty years of work in medicine, he helped 87 patients die. So he claims, and the investigation ascribes to Harvey from 36 to 57 murders. The nurse killed the people with the help of cyanide, insulin and arsenic. As a result, the victims died long and painfully. At the same time, the killer did not limit himself in ways of accomplishing violence. He strangled some of his victims, and sometimes even pierced their insides with the pointed end of the hanger, infected with hepatitis and turned off life support devices.

Moses Sithoul

Moses Sithoul (born 1964). This maniac for his bloody activities was nicknamed "South African Strangler." He was awarded a total of 2,410 years in prison. In his solitary refuge, Sithoul was able to torture and kill 38 people. The offender also committed another 40 rape. It is clear that the killer will not be able to sit for the entire term in prison. Yes, and he will not live to old age. After all, he discovered AIDS in 2000, which will significantly shorten his life span. The notorious maniac brought a small gap between his crimes. He completed all of them in just a year. In 1994, Sithoul was released from prison, in 1995 he was imprisoned there again. This time forever.

Bell Sorenson Gunness

Bell Sorenson Gunness (1859-1908). Not only men become maniacs. This woman has been operating for several decades, during which time about 40 people became her victims. Born Brinhild became a real symbol of female madness and cruelty. She herself did not spend a single day at work, and received funds for living from insurance companies. Those compensated her the death of her loved ones, not knowing who skillfully killed them. Bell herself was a very impressive lady, weighing 91 kilograms and growing 173 centimeters. She began her business in cold blood with her husband and children, then potential suitors began to fall into her paws. In those days, such body shapes were considered quite attractive in men, as evidenced by the number of victims of a cold-blooded killer. Bell herself received the nickname "Black Widow." But her death is shrouded in mystery. Once she simply disappeared, after some time the police discovered her headless corpse. It is still unclear whether it was the criminal herself or if she had staged her death in such a way. Indeed, at the time of the examination, the DNA material was not enough to confirm the death of the bloody killer.

Ahmad Suraji

Ahmad Suraji (1951-2008). This cattle breeder from Iran admitted to killing 42 women. They were all of different ages, and the bloody chain stretched for 11 years. The maniac first tracked his victims, and then vigorously killed. At the same time, he used his own cruel rite. Suraji buried women in the ground to the very throat, and then choked them with a piece of cable. Assistance to the killer in his actions was provided by three wives, who were also convicted. Ahmad himself said that a prophetic dream pushed him to such atrocities. In it, a father appeared to him, who predicted the glory of a healer if a man kills 70 women and tastes their saliva. The son was not able to doubt these words and more than half completed his plan. In 2008, the authorities shot the offender.

Alexander Pichushkin

Alexander Pichushkin (born 1974). After the trial, the media dubbed the maniac “Killer with a chessboard”. The fact is that the maniac intended to kill exactly 64 people, by the number of cells on the chessboard. After each victim, one of its cells was closed. According to the killer, he almost completed his plan, killing 61 people. At the court, Pichushkin’s involvement in 48 murders was proved, which was enough for a maniac’s life imprisonment. He committed the first murder at the age of 18, a classmate of Alexander became a victim. Finally the psyche of the maniac took shape after the trial of Chikatilo, Pichushkin realized that he wanted to be like that and even surpass the number of victims. The killer launched his activities on the territory of the Bitsevsky Forest Park. He lured deep into the homeless and alcoholics, promising them free drink, and then broke his head with a bat. Soon, the maniac began to hunt acquaintances, since he was especially pleased to kill them.

Gary Leon Ridgway

Gary Leon Ridgway (born 1949). This maniac, nicknamed "River Man," claims that over 16 years in the state of Washington, he was able to kill more than 90 women. As a result, the court was able to prove 48 murders, the offender confessed to their commission. The methods used by him were truly cruel. First of all, he satisfied his sexual passion and tormented the victims, then he strangled them with ropes, cable or fishing line. Even necrophilia was in use. If the maniac did not have time to master it during the life of the victim, then he entered into sexual contact with the corpse. In 2003, Ridgway fully confessed to the atrocities, and his death penalty was commuted to life imprisonment.

Anatoly Onoprienko

Anatoly Onoprienko (born 1959). The maniac, nicknamed "The Terminator", admitted that in six years of his hunt for people he killed 52 people. Onoprienko calculated that the points of accomplishment of his acts on the map of Ukraine should make up a cross. According to the maniac, all his actions are controlled by certain voices distributed in his head. When Onoprienko was arrested, they found with him a gun that appeared in his early murders, and personal belongings of the killed people. He himself attacked people on highways and in remote homes. In 1999, the maniac, the court sentenced to death, but soon it was replaced by life imprisonment.

The killer wielded from 1978 to 1990, during which time he killed 52 people. Most often, women and children became victims. Chikatilo tried to rape them, but this did not always succeed. But he received sexual pleasure, watching the suffering of dying people. The maniac brought death to his victims, trying to have sexual intercourse with them. In 1994, the killer got what he deserved - a shot in the back of his head the death penalty interrupted his life.

Pedro Alonso Lopez

Pedro Alonso Lopez (born 1948). This Colombian killer still continues to frighten people, because he remained uncaught. His whole life is continuous drama. Lopez himself was a victim of molestation, had sex with his sister, and visited a brothel of a pedophile. When the boy grew up, he began to beat, rape and molest, as if in revenge. Even in his teens, Lopez became a killer, the first victim was his master. From him, as well as from three of his other clients, the killer also skinned. As a result, the number of victims of the maniac exceeded all known cases. He was nicknamed the "Monster of the Andes." During interrogation, Lopez indicated the burial sites of 110 of his victims, claiming that he killed more than 300 people. But in Ecuador, where the trial took place, there is no death penalty. As a result, Lopez served 16 years in prison, having been released in 1999. His current whereabouts are unknown. Lopez even got into the Guinness Book of Records, as the bloodiest maniac in the world.

Yang Xinhai

Yang Xinhai (1968-2004). This Chinese maniac in 4 years of his activity was able to kill 67 people. Xinhai's criminal life began as a petty thief, but he soon moved from theft to violence and murder. The maniac often infiltrated residential buildings and massacred entire families. At the same time, he had a saw and an ax out of weapons. Yang killed children and raped pregnant women, for his inhumanity, the Chinese gave him the nickname "Monster Killer." He traveled around the country on a bicycle. When Xinhai was arrested, he said that the killings pleased him. According to the verdict of the court, the maniac was shot in 2004.

Pedro Rodriguez Filo

Pedro Rodriguez Filo (born 1954). This maniac is called the "Little Pedro Killer." After all, he killed more than a hundred people in his life. Most of them were in prison with Filo, being prisoners, like himself. In 2003, the killer went to jail after confessing to the killing of 70 people. Among them was the maniac’s father. The court in total sentenced Filo to 128 years in prison, but Brazilian laws will not allow a maniac to be imprisoned for more than 30 years.

Elizabeth Bathory

Elizabeth Bathory (1560-1614). This woman went down in history under the name "Bloody Duchess." The Duchess was operating along with her four assistants. The court found her guilty of killing 600 women. However, most of them were virgins. A bloodlust appeared in Bathory after her husband died from battle wounds. The duchess was personally found guilty of killing 80 women, but she did not officially appear before the court. A noble family decided not to bring the matter to a public hearing, simply imprisoning Elizabeth in the dungeon of her own castle. Four years after the hearing, the duchess died. But it was not possible to hush up the matter; the fame of a bloody torturer spread throughout Europe. She began to be ranked among the successors of Count Dracula. Many legends about Bathory appeared immediately. So, they said that she loved to bathe in a bathtub filled with the blood of virgins. The Duchess believed that this would help her to rejuvenate. As a result, Bathory went down in the history of mankind as the most cruel woman killer.

Javed Iqbal

Javed Iqbal (1956-2001). This maniac chose to commit suicide. In 2001, his body was opened in one of the prisons of Pakistan, on the body were traces of numerous brutal beatings. At one time, the court found Ikbal guilty of raping and killing more than one hundred children. But the matter is far from over. After all, after the death of the maniac, it turned out that many of the victims attributed to him were alive. Iqbal himself confessed to the killing of hundreds of children. The criminal said that he first strangled them, and then cut the corpses into pieces, destroying evidence in acid. At the crime scene, indicated by the investigator to the maniac, the remains of the bodies, their photos and things were found. Given the killer’s method, it’s impossible to accurately determine the number of victims.

Tag Behram

Tag Behram (1765-1840). It is believed that this maniac killed a thousand people. He operated in India from 1790 to 1840. Behram was at the head of the brutal gang of Tagi Cult. In 1999, the criminal admitted that he committed 140 rapes, and then the killing of boys. And according to rumors, in fact, the number of victims was twice as many. But Cubillos cooperated with the investigation and indicated the whereabouts of the remains of his victims, and also provided evidence to his crimes. That is why the maximum term according to local laws of 30 years was reduced by 8. But not so long ago, changes in criminal law were adopted in the country, which allows to increase the duration of imprisonment of a maniac. I must say that there are all prerequisites for this. After all, the police believe that Cubillos committed many more murders than was previously proven.

Gilles de Rais

Gilles de Rais (1404-1440). This nobleman, marshal and alchemist went down in history as well as the associate of Joan of Arc. It is believed that it was he who served as the prototype for the fabulous character "Blue Beard". The judges accused Gilles of killing two hundred children, whom he allegedly sacrificed to the devil. De Re was excommunicated, hanged, and his body burned. It should be noted that historians have doubts that the attributed murders were committed by de Re. After all, until the very last he refused charges, confessing only under the threat of torture.

Harold Frederick "Fred" Shipman

Harold Frederick "Fred" Shipman (1946-2004). This criminal had the longest list of proven killings. It is he who is rightfully considered the bloodiest serial killer in history. The court proved 218 murders he committed, but the exact number can be much larger. Shipman was once an ordinary family doctor, respected in the county. But later he turned into "Doctor Death." The killer gave his patients fatal injections of heroin, with most of the victims being women. Although Shipman was sentenced to life imprisonment, he decided not to wait for his natural demise. In the cell, the killer spent only 6 years, after which he hanged himself. After a high-profile case, significant changes were made to the laws of England in the field of health care medicine.

"The most famous photograph that no one has seen," - as the Associated Press photographer Richard Drew calls his picture of one of the victims of the World Trade Center, who jumped out of the window to death on September 11

"On the day that was captured on cameras and on film more than any other day in history," Tom Junod later wrote on Esquire, "the only taboos with common agreement were the pictures of people jumping out of windows." Five years later, Richard Drew's “falling man” remains a terrible artifact of that day, which was supposed to change everything, but did not change.

Malcolm Brown, a 30-year-old photographer (Associated Press) from New York, was phoned and asked to be at a particular intersection in Saigon the next morning, as something very important must happen.

He came there with a reporter from the New York Times. soon a car drove up, several Buddhist monks got out of it. Among them is Thich Quang Duc, who sat in a lotus position with a box of matches in his hands, while the rest began to water him with gasoline. Thich Quang Duc struck a match and turned into a living torch. Unlike the weeping crowd watching him burn, he made no sound and did not move. Thich Quang Duc wrote a letter to the then head of the Vietnamese government asking them to stop the repressions against the Buddhists, to stop the detention of monks and give them the right to practice and spread their religion, but did not receive an answer.

Take a closer look at this photo. This is one of the most remarkable photographs that have ever been taken. The baby’s tiny pen reached from the womb to squeeze the surgeon’s finger. By the way, the child is 21 weeks from conception, the age when he can still be legally aborted. The tiny pen in the photo belongs to the baby who was supposed to be born on December 28 last year. The photo was taken during an operation in America.

The first reaction is to recoil in horror. It looks like a close-up of some terrible incident. And then you notice, in the very center of the photograph, a tiny pen grabbed by the surgeon's finger.

A child literally grabs hold of life. Therefore, this is one of the most remarkable photographs in medicine and a record of one of the most extraordinary operations in the world. She shows a 21-week-old fetus in the womb, before the spinal surgery itself, which was required to save the baby from serious brain damage. The operation was performed through a tiny incision in the wall of the uterus and this is the youngest patient. At this time, the mother may choose to have an abortion.

The death of the boy of Al-Dura, filmed by a reporter for a French television station at the time he was shot dead by Israeli soldiers, being in the hands of his father.

The portrait of the “martyr” of al-Dura spread in stamps, books, songs and posters. But Jewish activists in France, questioned by the veracity of the shots, are conducting a stubborn company that has been going on for several years, demanding that French television also reveal those parts of the shoot that weren’t broadcast, passages showing how Palestinians train to stage the shooting incident, resulting in which was allegedly killed by al-Dura.

By the beginning of the summer of 1994, Kevin Carter (Kevin Carter, 1960-1994) was at the pinnacle of fame. He had just received the Pulitser Prize, job offers from famous magazines rained down one after another. “Everyone congratulates me,” he wrote to his parents, “I can’t wait to meet and show you my trophy. This is the highest recognition of my work, which I did not dare even dream of. "

Kevin Carter won the Pulitser Prize for his photograph of Hunger in Sudan, taken in early spring 1993. On this day, Carter flew specially to Sudan to shoot scenes of hunger in a small village. Tired of filming people who died of hunger, he left the village in a field overgrown with small bushes and suddenly heard a quiet cry. Looking around, he saw a little girl lying on the ground, apparently dying of hunger. He wanted to take a picture of her, but suddenly a vulture vulture landed a few steps away. Very carefully, trying not to frighten away the bird, Kevin chose the best position and took a picture. After that, he waited another twenty minutes, hoping that the bird would spread its wings and give him the opportunity to make a better shot. But the damned bird did not move and, in the end, he spat and drove her away. Meanwhile, the girl apparently gained strength and went on - or rather crawled - further. And Kevin sat down by the tree and cried. He suddenly terribly wanted to hug his daughter ...

Settleer Resists Israeli Army Officer, Amon Outpost, West Bank, February 1, 2006

The Jewish settlement opposes the Israeli police, which enforces a Supreme Court decision to dismantle 9 houses at the outpost of Amon, West Bank, February 1. Residents, joined by thousands of other protesters, erected barbed-wire barriers to protect their homes and ran into the police. More than 200 people were injured, including 80 police officers. After hours of confrontation, the settlers were driven away, and the bulldozers who arrived arrived began to be demolished.

A 12-year-old Afghan girl is a famous photograph of Steve McCurry, taken by him in a refugee camp on the Afghan-Pakistani border.

Soviet helicopters destroyed the village of a young refugee, her whole family died, and before entering the camp, the girl traveled two weeks in the mountains. After publication in June 1985, this photo becomes an icon of National Geographic. Since then, this image has not been used where ever - from tattoos to rugs, which has turned the photo into one of the most widely circulated photos in the world.

The September 11, 2001 terrorist attack (often referred to simply as 9/11) is a series of coordinated suicidal terrorist attacks in the United States of America. According to the official version, the responsibility for these attacks lies with the Islamic terrorist organization Al Qaeda.

On the morning of that day, nineteen terrorists allegedly related to Al Qaeda, having divided into four groups, captured four scheduled passenger airliners. Each group had at least one member who had completed initial flight training. The invaders sent two of these airliners to the towers of the World Trade Center, American Airlines flight 11 to WTC 1 tower, and United Airlines flight 175 to WTC 2 tower, as a result of which both towers collapsed, causing serious damage to the adjacent buildings.

Young Lebanese drive through the ruined area of \u200b\u200bBeirut, August 15, 2006

Young Lebanese travel down a street in Haret Hrejk in a suburb of Beirut, bombed, Lebanon, August 15. For almost five weeks, Israel attacked this part of the city and other cities in southern Lebanon during an operation against Hezbollah militants. After the truce declared on August 14, thousands of Lebanese began to gradually return to their homes. According to the Lebanese government, 15,000 homes and 900 commercial firms were affected.

The photograph of the officer shooting the head of a handcuffed prisoner not only received the Pulitzer Prize in 1969, but also completely changed the attitude of Americans towards what was happening in Vietnam.

Despite the obviousness of the image, in fact, the photograph is not as straightforward as it seemed to ordinary Americans, full of sympathy for the executed. The fact is that the man in handcuffs is the captain of the Viet Cong "revenge warriors", and on this day a lot of unarmed civilians were shot dead by him and his assistants. General Nguyen Ngoc Loan, pictured on the left, has been haunted by his past all his life: he was refused treatment in an Australian military hospital, after moving to the USA he faced a massive campaign calling for his immediate deportation, a restaurant that he opened in Virginia every day was attacked by vandals. “We know who you are!” - this inscription haunted the army general all his life.

Lynch Court (1930) Lawrence Beitler

This shot was taken in 1930 when a crowd of 10 thousand white men hung two black men for raping a white woman and killing her young man. The crowd “freed” criminals from prison to lynch. A striking contrast - the joyful faces of people as a backdrop for torn corpses.

At the end of April 2004, the CBS Channel featured a 60-minute program on torture and bullying by Abu Ghraib prisoners in a group of American soldiers. The plot showed photographs that a few days later were published in The New Yorker magazine. This was the biggest scandal surrounding the presence of Americans in Iraq.

In early May 2004, the leadership of the US Armed Forces recognized that some of the methods of torture did not comply with the Geneva Convention and announced its readiness to publicly apologize.

According to the testimony of a number of prisoners, American soldiers raped them, rode them on horseback, forced them to catch food from prison toilets. In particular, the prisoners said: “They made us walk on all fours, like dogs, and yap. We had to bark like dogs, and if you didn’t bark, you were hit in the face without any pity. After that, they threw us in the cells, took away mattresses, poured water on the floor and forced us to sleep in this liquid without removing the hoods from our heads. And they took pictures of it all the time, "" One American said he would rape me. He painted a woman on my back and made me stand in a shameful position, holding my own scrotum. ”

Burial of an unknown child.

On December 3, 1984, the Indian city of Bhopal suffered from the largest technological disaster in human history. A giant poison cloud emitted into the atmosphere by an American pesticide factory covered the city, taking the lives of three thousand people that night, and another 15 thousand in the coming month. In total, more than 150,000 people suffered from the release of toxic waste, and this is not counting children born after 1984.

Nilson gained international fame in 1965 when LIFE magazine published 16 pages of photographs of a human embryo.

These photographs were immediately reproduced also in Stern, Paris Match, The Sunday Times and other magazines. In the same year, Nilson’s book of photographs, A Child is Born, was released, with an eight millionth print run sold out in the first few days. This book has withstood several reprints and is still one of the best-selling illustrated books in the history of such albums. Photos of the human fetus Nielson managed to get back in 1957, but they were still not spectacular enough to show them to the general public.

Surgeon Jay Vacanti of the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, along with micro-engineer Jeffrey Borenstein, is developing a technique for growing an artificial liver. In 1997, he managed to grow a human ear on the back of a mouse using cartilage cells.

The development of techniques to cultivate the liver is extremely relevant. In the UK alone, 100 people are waiting for transplantation, and according to the British Liver Trust, most patients die before they are transplanted.

Icy rain ... It sounds harmless enough, but nature often throws up unpleasant surprises.

Icy rains can form a thick crust of ice on any object, destroying even the giant supports of power lines. And they can create incredibly beautiful objects of art of natural origin.

Dolly is a female sheep, the first mammal successfully cloned from the cell of another adult creature.

The experiment was performed in the UK (Roslin Institute, Midlothian, Scotland), where she was born on July 5, 1996. The press announced its birth only after 7 months - February 22, 1997. After living for 6 years, Dolly the sheep died on February 14, 2003.

The Patterson-Gimlin documentary, which captured the female bigfoot, an American “bigfoot” in 1967, is still the only clear photographic evidence of the existence of living relic hominids on earth, designated in hominology by the term “homins”.

At the same time, there is a fair amount of fuzzy, blurry images that are not suitable for scientific analysis. This is evidence of how difficult the subject of photography is these primates. As a rule, meetings with them occur at dusk and unexpectedly, so that a shocked eyewitness at the most crucial moment usually forgets not only his camera or video camera, but even his weapons.

Republican soldier Federico Borel Garcia is depicted in the face of death.

The picture caused a huge shock in society. The situation is absolutely unique. For the entire time of the attack, the photographer took only one picture, and at the same time made it at random, without looking at the viewfinder, he did not look towards the “model” at all. And this is one of the best, one of his most famous photographs. Thanks to this image, already in 1938, newspapers called the 25-year-old Robert Kap “The Greatest Military Photographer in the World”.

A photograph taken by a reporter Alberto Korda at a rally in 1960, in which Che Guevara is also visible between a palm tree and someone’s nose, claims to be the most widely circulated photo ever.

The photograph in which the hoisting of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag was captured circled the whole world. Eugene Chaldean, 1945.

The death of a Nazi functionary and his family.

Vienna, 1945 Eugene Chaldea: “I went to the park near the parliament building to remove the passing columns of soldiers. And I saw this picture. On the bench was a woman killed by two shots - in the head and neck, next to her was a dead teenager of about fifteen and a girl. At some distance lay the corpse of the father of the family. He had a gold NSDAP badge on his lapel, and a revolver lay nearby. (...) A ranger ran out of the parliament building:
- This is he, he did, not Russian soldiers. Came at 6 in the morning. I saw him and his family from the basement window. Not a soul on the street. He moved the benches together, told the woman to sit down, and the same thing for the children. I did not understand what he was going to do. And then he shot his mother and son. The girl resisted, then he laid her on a bench and shot him too. He stepped aside, looked around the result and shot himself. ”

Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898-1995), a photographer working for Life magazine, strolling across the square photographing kissers. Later, he recalled that he had noticed a sailor who “ran around the square and kissed indiscriminately all the women in a row: young and old, fat and thin. I watched, but there was no desire to photograph. Suddenly he grabbed something white. "I barely had time to raise the camera and take a picture of him kissing a nurse."

For millions of Americans, this photo, which Eisenstadt called "Unconditional Surrender," became a symbol of the end of World War II.

The assassination of the thirty-fifth US President John F. Kennedy was committed on Friday November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at 12:30 local time. Kennedy was mortally wounded by a shotgun when he, along with his wife, Jacqueline, rode in the presidential motorcade along Elm Street.

On December 30, Iraq’s ex-president Saddam Hussein was executed. The Supreme Tribunal sentenced the former Iraqi leader to death by hanging. The sentence was executed at 6 a.m. in the suburbs of Baghdad.

The execution took place shortly before the morning prayer, marking the beginning of the Muslim festival of sacrifice. She was filmed on video and now Iraqi national television broadcasts this recording on all channels.

Representatives of the Iraqi authorities who were present at the same time said that Hussein behaved with dignity and did not ask for mercy. He stated that "he was glad to accept death from his enemies and become a martyr", and not to stay in prison until the end of his days.

At first glance, these photos may seem ordinary and harmless, but scary events are hidden behind each of them - from accidents to especially brutal murders and cannibalism.

1. There is nothing unusual in this photo until you notice a gnawed human ridge in the lower right corner.

The heroes of the picture are the players of the Uruguayan rugby team Old Cristians, in a plane crash on October 13, 1972: their plane crashed in the Andes. Of the 40 passengers and five crew members, 12 were killed in the crash or shortly after it; five more died the next morning.

Search operations ceased on the eighth day, and the survivors had to fight for life for more than two months. Food reserves quickly ran out, and they had to eat the icy corpses of friends.

Without waiting for help, some of the victims made a dangerous and long passage through the mountains, which turned out to be successful. 16 men were saved.

2. In 2012, Mexican music star Jenny Rivera died in a plane crash. Selfies with friends on a plane made a few minutes before the tragedy.

No one survived as a result of the crash.

3. In August 1975, an American Mary Mackquilken photographed two brothers: Michael and Sean in bad weather. They were on a cliff in California's Sequoia National Park.

A second after the picture was taken, lightning struck all three. Only 18-year-old Michael managed to survive. In this photo - the sister of young men Mary.

The atmospheric discharge was so powerful and close that the hair of young people literally stood on end. Survivor Michael works as a computer engineer and still receives letters asking what happened that day.

4. This shot of 14-year-old Regina Walters, serial killer Robert Ben Rhodes took a few seconds before he killed her. The maniac led Regina into an abandoned barn, cut her hair and forced to put on a black dress and shoes.

Rhodes traveled around the United States in a huge trailer equipped with a torture chamber. His victims were at least three people a month.

The Walters body was found in a barn, which they were supposed to burn.

5. In April 1999, high school students from Columbine School of America posed for a general shot.

For the general gaiety, hardly anyone drew attention to two guys pretending to be pointing a rifle and a pistol at the camera.

A few days later, these guys, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, appeared in Columbine with weapons and improvised explosives. Their victims were 13 students, and 23 people were injured.

The crime was carefully planned. The culprits were not detained because they shot themselves. Later it became known that teenagers were outsiders at school, and what happened was a cruel act of revenge.

  6. In November 1985, an eruption of Ruiz occurred in Colombia, resulting in mudflows in the province of Armero.

13-year-old Omaira Sanchez was the victim of a tragedy: her body was stuck in the rubble of a building, and the girl stood on the neck in mud for three days. Her face was swollen, her hands were almost white, and her eyes were bloodshot.

Rescuers tried to rescue the girl in different ways, but in vain.

Three days later, Omaira fell into agony, ceased to respond to people and eventually died.

  7. It would seem that in which the father and mother and daughter are sealed, there is nothing strange. True, the girl turned out in the picture very clearly, and her parents - blurry. Before us is one of the posthumous photographs popular in those days: the girl imprinted on it shortly before that died of typhus.

The corpse remained motionless in front of the lens, and therefore it was clearly manifested: photographs were taken at that time with long exposure, and it took a long time to pose. Perhaps that is why the post-mortem photos, that is, posthumous, have become incredibly fashionable. The heroine of this picture is also dead.

8. The woman in this photo died in childbirth. Special devices were installed in photo salons for fixing corpses, and they also opened the eyes of the dead and buried a special tool in them so that the mucous membrane would not dry out and the eyes would not become cloudy.

9. It would seem that the usual photo of three divers. But why is one of them lying at the very bottom?

26-year-old Tina Watson died during a honeymoon on October 22, 2003, and divers accidentally discovered her corpse. After the wedding, the girl with her husband Gabe went to Australia, where they decided to go diving.

If you believe the photographer who accompanied the couple, under water, the man turned off the oxygen tank of the young wife and kept her at the bottom until she suffocated. When it turned out that Watson’s wife, shortly before the tragedy, had issued a new life insurance policy and, in the event of her death, Gabe would have received a considerable amount, everyone began to suspect him of intentional murder. After serving a year and a half in prison, he returned to Alabama and again went on trial, but the case was closed due to lack of evidence. Watson later remarried.

10. Having looked closely, one can notice that in front of this brooding African are severed children's feet and hands. Photo taken in 1904.

Pictured is a Congolese worker in a rubber plantation who could not work out the norm. As punishment, the overseers ate his five-year-old daughter, giving him the remains of the child as a warning. This was practiced quite often.

For non-compliance with the rules relied on execution. To prove that the cartridge was used for its intended purpose, but was not sold, it was required to provide the severed hand of the executed, and for each execution the punishers received a reward. The desire to rise in service led to the fact that the hands were chopped off from everyone, including children. Those who pretended to be dead could survive.

11. At first glance it looks like a Halloween shot. Two Swedish schoolchildren also thought the same on October 22, 2015, when 21-year-old Anton Lundin Peterson came to their school in Trollhattan in this form: they took what was happening as a joke and happily took pictures with a stranger in a strange outfit.

Peterson stabbed these young men and set off for the following victims. In the end, he killed one teacher and four children. The police opened fire on him and he died from injuries in the hospital. The incident was the deadliest armed attack on a school in Swedish history.

12. Americans Sailor Gilliams and Brendan Vega went camping together in the vicinity of Santa Barbara, but lost their inexperience. There was no connection, but due to the heat and lack of water, the girl was left completely without strength. Going for help, Brendan tore off the cliff and crashed.

And these photos were taken by a group of experienced tourists. Upon returning home, they were horrified to notice in the background a red-haired girl, unconscious lying on the ground. Helicopter rescuers went to the scene of the tragedy, and Sailor survived.

13. It would seem that the older boy leads the youngest by the hand, there is nothing unusual, but this picture hides a terrible tragedy.

10-year-old John Venebles and Robert Thompson took away from the mall two-year-old James Bulger, whom his mother briefly left unattended, brutally, painted on her face and left to die on the railway tracks to mask the murder as an accident from a train.

The killers were found thanks to the video from the surveillance camera. The criminals received a maximum term of 10 years for their age, which was extremely outraged by the public and the mother of the victim. Moreover, in 2001 they were released and received documents in new names.

In 2010, it became known that John Venebles was returned to prison due to violation of the conditions of parole.

Venebs was later charged with the possession and dissemination of child pornography. The police found 57 matching images on his computer. Hoping to get other child pornography on the Internet, Venebs pretended to be a 35-year-old married woman who boasted of violence against her eight-year-old daughter.

14. It seems that this is an ordinary New Year's family photo - until you look closely at the background.

The picture was taken by Filipino adviser Reynaldo Dugs. The killer decided to take revenge on him for helping to arrest him for stealing a car.

That photo helped to quickly identify the killer and again send him to jail.

15. A Chinese reporter captured the fog on the Yangtze River and only after a detailed study of the photo did he find a man falling from a bridge on it. As it turned out, after a few seconds his girlfriend jumped after him.

16. A camera with this image was found in the washing machine of 27-year-old Travis Alexander. He was killed in the shower through 25 stab wounds, including in the neck, and a shot in the head.

The girl Jody Arias was accused of what happened, with whom he was going to break up, but she was chasing him and literally did not allow passage. After two years of investigation, Arias admitted her deed.

In other pictures found at the crime scene, the couple was captured in sexual poses, and Travis's image in the shower was shot at 17:29 on the day of the murder. In photographs taken just minutes later, Alexander was already lying in blood on the floor.

17. Father and daughter posing for a photo do not know that in the red Vauxhall Cavalier there is an explosive behind them that will detonate in a few seconds.

This terrorist attack in August 1998 was carried out by an illegal organization, the True Irish Republican Army. 29 people were killed, more than 220 were injured. The camera with the first shot was found under the rubble, and his heroes miraculously survived.

There is a rather impressive list of serial killers of the 20th century who sealed their victims on tape before cracking down on them. For some, photography was also a way to lure women and children and be alone with them.

First of the last

Perhaps the most famous of the maniacs of this kind is Rodney Alcalá, who worked in California and New York. The killing of seven girls (including a 12-year-old) in 1977-1979 is considered officially proven. However, investigators working with the Alcalá case believe that there were much more victims, up to 130 people. If the numbers are correct, then this man is the worst serial killer in US history.

Alcala graduated from the University of California School of Fine Arts. He also studied at New York University on a film course with Roman Polanski (here you can see a sad historical rhyme, because the director’s wife Sharon Tate was brutally murdered by members of the Charles Manson gang in 1969). His education allowed Alcalá to tell the girls that he was a professional fashion photographer. In addition, Rodney was cute and sociable, which is rather rare for a serial killer, and promised to make him a portfolio. As a result, many agreed to pose in front of his camera.

After Alcala was arrested, the police found many photographs of young women and men, as well as teenagers, often naked. His colleagues in the Los Angeles Times, where he worked as a typesetter, later said that he often showed them his work. Colleagues found it strange that he photographs naked teens, but Alcalá explained that he was doing this with the permission of his parents, and no one did anything.

Among the dozens of girls in these pictures were those who were accused of killing Alkala, but most of the models remained unidentified: the killer did not admit his guilt and refused to cooperate with the investigation. In 2010, before the next trial in this case, the police unveiled 120 photographs from the Alcalá archive, hoping to find someone from the people depicted there. Several women really responded by recognizing themselves in the photographs. Nevertheless, the identities of most Alcalá models have not yet been established. It is likely that many of them were killed and the bodies were not found.

The maniac photographed his victims even after death, giving their bodies pretentious, unnatural poses.

Now Rodney Alcalé is 74 years old. Despite all the evidence, he repeatedly sought the annulment of court decisions. In the end, he was nevertheless sentenced to death, which he is still waiting in a California prison.

Career expectations

William Richard Bradford was convicted in 1984 of two murders - his 15-year-old neighbor and a young woman. The killer lured both victims to himself under the pretext of a photo shoot, promising them a modeling career.

In the Bradford archive, pictures of another 54 women were found, among which, perhaps, there were other victims of the killer. In 2006, the police published these photos in the hope of finding out the fate of the women depicted on them. Only a few were identified. All of them were alive, except for one whose body was discovered back in 1978.

Bradford was sentenced to death, but he died in prison from cancer in 2008.

Harvey Glatman, who killed at least three girls in 1957-1958, also introduced himself as a professional photographer, looking for his victims at modeling agencies.

Glatman told his model that he works for crime magazines and that he needs to portray the victim of a crime.

Glatman told his model that he works for crime magazines and that he needs to portray the victim of a crime. Women allowed the criminal to bind themselves and gag. At the request of Glatman, they pretended to be scared. After the shooting, the maniac photographer raped the victim and took it off again - now with real, not mock horror on his face. Then Glatman killed the woman and disposed of the corpse.

The maniac was caught in 1958. A year later, he was executed in California.

Garage party

Another maniac photographer was called Jerry Brudos. The first time he came to the attention of the police when he was 17 years old. Then Brudos made the girl pose naked in front of the camera, threatening with a knife. For this, he was sent for compulsory treatment, but was soon released. In 1968-1969, Brudos, who lived in Oregon with his wife and two children, killed at least four women.

In the garage, where Brudos brought his victims, later found pictures of naked women. As a fetishist, the photographer collected lingerie and high-heeled shoes. He ordered his victims to try on these things or put them on after the murder. Brudos raped and strangled women, after which he mutilated corpses and had sexual intercourse with them.

Later, the wife of Brudos will tell that her husband asked her to do homework naked and in high-heeled shoes, and meanwhile he photographed her. The killer was sentenced to life imprisonment. He spent 37 years in prison, where he ordered piles of catalogs with women's shoes, and died in 2006 from cancer.

He spent 37 years in prison, where he ordered piles of catalogs with women's shoes.

Brudos became the prototype of one of the heroes of the Mind Hunter series about how the FBI had a department studying the psychology of such criminals. It is believed that it was the employee of this department, Robert Ressler (prototype of the protagonist of the series), who first used the term "serial killer."

Robert Roads has been convicted of three murders, but is believed to have raped and killed more than 50 women between 1975 and 1990. Roads raped, tortured, and killed in his truck. He found victims on the tracks: they were either prostitutes or women hitchhiking. Rhoads was caught accidentally - a patrol officer decided to inspect his truck and found there a naked woman handcuffed.

During a search of Roads, they found photographs of the victims whom he had tormented for many days. The maniac meticulously recorded on the film traces of torture that appeared on the bodies of the victims. Roads was sentenced to several life sentences. He is now 72 years old and is in jail in Illinois.

Not Only Women and States

Robert Berdella operated in Kansas from 1984-1988. During this time, he killed six men. He raped and tortured his victims, and then removed the mutilated corpses on the Polaroid: their appearance excited him. In 1988, when Burdell's next victim managed to escape, the maniac was arrested. Four years later, he died in prison from a heart attack.

When Berdell photographed his victims, his own parts of the body occasionally fell into the frame. During investigative experiments, the killer again had to shoot without clothes in poses similar to those he took next to the victims, so the detectives were able to compare the images and make sure that the photographs of the victims were taken by Berdell.

Dean Korrl raped and killed at least 28 boys and youths in 1970-1973. He had two teenage accomplices who, for a fee, lured his friends to him. Korrl received the nickname Candy Man, because his family owned a factory for the production of sweets in Texas, a maniac treated children with sweets, rubbing trust in them.

It all ended up that Korrl quarreled with one of his accomplices, and he shot him, and then called the police. During the investigation, they found the maniac’s archive, which contained photos and videos of pornographic content. Among the people captured on film were 11 victims of Korrl.

However, one famous maniac who was fond of photography was in the USSR. From 1964 to 1985, Anatoly Slivko killed at least seven boys aged 11 to 15 years.

Slivko lived in Nevinnomyssk and led a tourist club at a local enterprise, worked as a pioneer leader. He was fond of photography and video, received prizes for his work at local competitions. He was a member of the CPSU, deputy of the Nevinnomyssk City Council, honored teacher, drummer of labor and a master of sports in mountain tourism. He had a wife and two children.

Slivko chose the victims among the pupils of the tourist club (the first victim was an exception - a vagabond boy whose identity was never established). The teacher invited children to participate in the filming of a film whose plot supposedly provided for an imitation of torture. Gradually, Slivko began to torment the children for real - he stretched the boys, who were certainly dressed in pioneer uniforms, on ropes, hung them, leading to a loss of consciousness. He pumped and released most of the victims, but sometimes he could not stop.

In total, 43 children were exposed to violence, including sexual abuse, by a distinguished teacher. Slivko documented his crimes in a diary and filmed. After the killings, he raped the corpses, after which he dismembered and set fire to parts of the body, capturing this process.

Most of the surviving children did not tell the elders out of fear - and nobody believed those who spoke. The police did not react even when the mother of one of the missing boys reported that her son had gone to the forest with Slivko to shoot a film and did not return. When the investigation nevertheless began, it lasted for years - only in 1985 Slivko was arrested. He was sentenced to death and executed four years later.
