Iris from foamiran. MK Natalia Voznyuk

Iris means "rainbow" in Greek. It received this name due to the wide variety of shapes and shades. And in this article we will look at how to make an iris from foamiran, which can be used to decorate a headband or hairpin or use it in interior decor.

Materials

In order to make an iris from foamiran, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • foamiran in lilac, yellow, green and white colors;
  • acrylic paint pink, yellow and white;
  • thin brush;
  • toothpick;
  • universal mold for leaves;
  • glue gun;
  • tape;
  • green oil pastel;
  • sponge;
  • wire 2 mm;
  • templates;
  • iron.

Master class for beginners

Draw or print out flower detail templates on paper and cut them out. Attach the 8 x 5 cm and 6.5 x 3 cm templates to the white foam and trace them along the outline with a toothpick, then cut out three pieces of each type.

You will also need three parts measuring 8.5 x 6.5 cm. They need to be cut from lilac foamiran.

From green foam we cut out a piece 18.5 x 4.5 cm, as well as three leaves 3 x 2 cm.

We cut the yellow foamiran into 3 strips 1 x 8 cm and make a fringe on them.

Along the edges of the white parts, use yellow acrylic paint to make small strokes. This pattern must be applied on both sides of each part. Then we apply small strokes of pink and paint the lower part of all the white petals with the same shade.

Use a toothpick to make veins on the lilac petals and paint them in the middle with pink paint. Along the edges of the petals we make small strokes with white paint and draw stripes diverging to the sides.

We fold the yellow fringed parts in half twice and glue them at the bottom.

Place the piece on the iron and slightly separate the fringe with your fingers. We paint the top part with pink paint.

We heat the white sheets in the form of scallops on an iron and slightly stretch the middle of the part, making a depression in it. The upper part of the comb needs to be slightly twisted and the bottom bent.

The white petals also need to be heated and a depression made in them. Then you should heat the edges of the petals and give them a wavy shape.

We also heat the lilac petals along the edges and create waves on them. We bend the lower part of the part back a little. In the center of each lilac petal we glue yellow fringed details.

We heat the green parts and press them onto the mold. After this, we fold the sheet lengthwise and give its edges a realistic shape.

We heat small green leaves and roll them into tubes, and then straighten them and stretch them slightly.

On top of the wire we glue three white combs on different sides. Between them we fix three more white petals. We attach lilac petals under the white parts.

We wind the tape around the wire and glue small green leaves under the flower. We apply oil pastels to the stem and the junction with small leaves.

We attach a large leaf to the stem using tape and also paint the joint with pastel.

Photos of iris from foamiran are presented in the publication.

Iris from marshmallow foamiran

In order to make another type of iris - from foamiran - with your own hands, you will need:

  • purple and green foam;
  • templates;
  • toothpick;
  • scissors;
  • heat gun;
  • wire;
  • green tape;
  • acrylic paint in white, yellow and ultramarine colors.

Iris from foamiran: master class

Print and cut out the petal templates, then make 9 purple petals from them (three for each template).

Take a toothpick and draw veins on top of the parts. Make a cut on the petals of the second view from above. Paint the widest petals in the center with ultramarine paint. Apply paint along the edges to the remaining parts.

Using scissors, give all the petals wavy edges, and then paint the center of all the details with white acrylic paint. After the white paint has dried, paint the yellow paint on top.

Now you need to shape the petals by preheating them with an iron. Add volume to the pieces by grabbing the top edge and pulling back slightly.

Heat the bottom of each petal and fold it in half. After this, continue heating the petals to make the veins more visible.

Combine the three parts so that the cut petals are in the center. Glue the remaining three narrow petals between the previous ones.

Attach the wire to the flower and wrap it with tape. Cut out large leaves from green foamiran and glue them to the stem. Your iris is ready.

This photo master class is dedicated to making iris from foamiran.

To work you will need:

  • foamiran,
  • patterns (templates),
  • toothpick,
  • scissors,
  • hot glue gun,
  • iron,
  • tape and wire,
  • acrylic paint (white, yellow, ultramarine).

1. Patterns (templates) for iris.

2. Trace the template with a toothpick, then cut along the outline.

3. For the iris, you need to prepare 3 petals of each pattern, i.e. 9 petals in total.

4. Draw veins as shown in the photo using a toothpick.

5. Shade the petals as shown in the photo. For this we need ultramarine acrylic paint. For touch-up we use a sponge.

6. Create a relief along the edge of the petal (cut along the edge with a snake).

7. Continue applying color. Apply white paint to the petal, as shown in the photo (in the corner). Repeat application if necessary.

8. After the previous layer has dried, apply bright yellow acrylic paint.

9. Give the petals a shape. Place the petal with the veins towards you on the iron platform (mode between 2 and 3) until the veins appear.

10. Add volume to the petal by squeezing from the back side.

11. Heat the stem of the petal and bend it in half, as in the photo.

12. We continue to heat all the petals.

13. We continue to give shape, heat until the veins appear.

14. Glue the two petals with the fold of the stem towards each other, glue them together.

15. We connect the three finished parts of the flower.

We will need:

  • foamiran (white, green, milky);
  • paints;
  • art brushes (flat, hard, thin);
  • floral mold (I have a cattleya orchid mold);
  • floral wire;
  • glue;
  • tape;
  • decoupage glue;
  • yellow flock powder;
  • a piece of foil;
  • iron;
  • scissors.

Making petals

Let's cut out flower petal templates No. 1,2,3. Petal template sizes:

  • No. 1 - height 5 cm, width 1.3 cm;
  • No. 2 - height 6.4 cm, width 2.8 cm;
  • No. 3 - height 7 cm, width 3.5 cm.

According to these dimensions, the flower will have a diameter of 8-8.5 cm.

The shaded part on the templates are the places where we will apply glue.

From white foamiran we cut out three parts No. 1, 2, 3 each. Let's make petals No. 1 a little wavy on all sides; When cutting out petals No. 2 and No. 3, we will also make them a little wavy in different places.

Next, take brown and yellow paint (I added a little golden color to yellow, I use acrylic paint) and two brushes, a flat one and the thinnest one, and apply a design to petals Nos. 2 and 3. Let everything dry.

Petals No. 1 are tinted on one side with a light purple color.

Then we will make the edges of the petals thinner. We will gather the edges of petals No. 2 and 3 one by one into an accordion and roll them between our fingers and straighten them. And let's roll petals No. 1 into a tube, as in the photo, and also roll the edges of the petals, straighten them (we only roll them into a tube so that the petal does not become too deformed; you can thin the edges as you see fit).

Now let's create a texture on the petals. To do this you will need a mold (I have a cattleya orchid mold).

We will apply petals No. 2 and 3 to the mold with a pattern (i.e., the front side), and petals No. 1, on the contrary, with the unpainted side.

Place the petal on the mold, trying to align the centers of the petal and the mold, apply it to a heated iron for a few seconds, remove it and quickly press the petal along the entire perimeter with your fingers. In this way we process all the petals.

Let's return to petals No. 1. Let's take purple paint (I used oil paint, mixed purple with blue), pick up the paint on a dry, hard, flat brush, then rub the paint well over the paper so that a faint trace of the paint remains. Then, using tangential movements from the center to the edges, we tint the petal, first according to the texture, then a little at the edges on the reverse side. Next, take a thin brush and draw a stripe in the center with blue paint.

Next, let's shape the petals. First we process petals No. 2,3. Let's stretch the edges of petals No. 2 a little around the entire perimeter. Then fold the petal in half with the front side up and bend it a little, straighten it, and if desired, curl the edges, as in the photo. For petals No. 3, we will also stretch the edges, then press the bulge in the center with our fingers, bend it a little, you can twist the edges as you like.

Petals No. 1 can be processed using a stack with a ball (or any suitable tool, or your fingers). Let's take a stack with a ball at the end and push the bulge in the lower part of the petal, first on one side of the center, then on the other, and, on the contrary, bend the edges in the opposite direction. Next, fold it in half lengthwise and make a slight bend, twisting the edges.

Assembly

First, glue petals No. 1 together as in the photo. For two petals No. 1, glue the halves of the lower parts together (apply glue and glue those parts that were shaded on the template). Then we glue a wire in the middle with a loop at the end and close everything with another petal. If necessary, apply glue to the middle on top and glue it.

Glue carefully and, in order to form smooth edges of the gluing, we cut off each side a little from the sides, since in the future some of the glued petals will be visible. This is how the design turned out.

Then we glue petals No. 2, placing them in the spaces between the previous ones.

We lower petals No. 2 approximately 0.5 cm below petals No. 1, glue them with the part that was shaded on the template, wrapping the joint around the glued petals No. 1. And also after gluing petals No. 2, the glued part of petal No. 1 should be visible by about 0.5 cm. In this way, we glue all petals No. 2.

Next, we glue petals No. 3, placing them in the spaces between the previous petals, lowering them a few millimeters below the previous petal, and also gluing them with the part that was shaded on the template.

Now let's take a small piece of foamiran and make a thickening under the flower about 1.5-2 cm in length.

Then take a small rectangle of foamiran of any green shade (mine is olive, I tinted it a little at the top with yellow paint, at the bottom with darker green), the height of the rectangle is 3-3.5 cm, the width will be different for each. You can make the top edge of the rectangle uneven. Glue it under the flower, joint to joint, cut off the excess.

Next we will make the so-called flower wrapper. Let's take a small piece of milk foamiran, 1.5 cm high; each will have its own width. We tint it, making the color close to the withered leaf (I painted it with cream, olive colors, you can add a little brown).

To work you will need:

  • foamiran,
  • patterns (templates),
  • toothpick,
  • scissors,
  • hot glue gun,
  • iron,
  • tape and wire,
  • acrylic paint (white, yellow, ultramarine).

16. The first part of gluing the parts is completed.

17. Glue the remaining three narrow petals between the previous ones.

18. Secure the stem with tape and glue the leaves.

In this master class I will tell you how to make iris from foamiran with your own hands. Moreover, we will make two types of this interesting flower. Translated from Greek, iris means rainbow. This flower received this name because of its many beautiful shades. In nature, irises are found in almost all colors of the rainbow. The flower itself is also very bright. We most often sell purple irises. Therefore, in the master class we will also paint iris from foamiran in the common purple shade.

Let’s start “Iris from foamiran MK” by creating a fantasy flower from the finest marshmallow foamiran.

Iris from marshmallow foamiran: master class with step-by-step photos

First of all, I will show you what kind of flower we should get as a result of our work (see irises from foamiran photo). It will look great in wedding bouquets and interior flower arrangements. Irises are often combined with roses, daisies, gerberas and other flowers. This flower makes the bouquet brighter and more interesting. Iris combines best with flowers of white, yellow, and pink shades.

Foamiran irises photo.

In order to make an iris from foamiran we will need the following materials:

  • purple marshmallow foamiran;
  • for leaves, green Iranian or any other foamiran;
  • molds: universal for cameos for small petals and universal for large petals;
  • oil pastels: green, red and sponge;
  • lighter;
  • second glue;
  • litons No. 26 or 3 mm wire;
  • tape;
  • stamens drop-shaped lilac;
  • stick or toothpick;
  • iron.

Remember that marshmallow foamiran is a very delicate and soft material in its structure and you need to work with it in a special way. How to make iris from foamiran I will describe this type and take into account all the nuances below in detailed step-by-step instructions. First of all, we need an iris pattern.

Iris pattern from foamiran. According to the pattern, we will prepare three large petals measuring 5*7 cm, small seven petals 4*6 cm. And two leaves measuring 4*15 cm and 3.5*12 cm.

We cut out the petals for the flower and bud from purple, and the leaves from green Iranian.

We heat the leaves on an iron at silk-wool temperature and process them on a mold, pressing the veins well.

Heat the small petals on an iron on both sides, ironing them well with your finger. Iron included on unit. We hold the petal against the iron with everything a little and press it well onto the mold.

We process large petals in the same way.

We tint the leaves with oil pastels, using several shades and blend them well with a sponge. We apply tint on both sides.

We tint the petals on one side with red oil pastel. Apply the tint to the bottom of the petals, blending well with a sponge. We tint all petals equally.

Then we treat the petals with a lighter, heat part of the petal and pull it out, making waves. We process all the petals in this way.

We additionally fold three large petals and three small ones in half, heat them with a lighter and pull them inward, then heat the stem of the petal and pull it out on the finger.

We fold the remaining four small petals in half, heat them and pull them inward.

We take the wire (two pieces, the size depends on your desire and on where you will use this flower). I took 30 cm. At the end of the wire we made a hook and glued purple stamens. For a bud, 10 pieces folded in half, for a flower a bunch of more.

Since my wire is thin, I thicken it with paper or foamiran.

We take small petals and, as it were, wrap the stamens, gluing one petal opposite the other.

So we glue the second pair of petals and treat the wire with tape.

We take the wire with the stamens for the flower and glue the stamens with three petals, placing the last petal behind the first.

Glue the large petals just below the small petals. We also place the last petal under the first.

We treat the stem with tape.

We attach a leaf to a branch with a bud and a second leaf to a branch with a flower. We process the tape with tape, connecting two branches together. We tint the place where the branches are attached with green oil pastel and slightly scrape the entire stem with a knife so that the tape wrapping is not visible. Here our branch is ready. It can decorate any vase.

Iris from Iranian foamiran in origami style: MK with photos for beginners

In the second lesson I will make an unusual iris from foamiran, made in origami style. It is also somewhat similar to appliqué.

To create it we will need:

  • purple, white, yellow Iranian foamiran for a flower;
  • for leaves and sepals, green Iranian or any other foamiran;
  • acrylic paint: dark pink, white, yellow and thin brush;
  • green oil pastel and sponge
  • instant glue or hot-melt gun;
  • wire 2 mm;
  • tape;
  • stick or toothpick;
  • iron;

A photo of an iris made from foamiran is shown below. We should end up with such a flower.

Iris from Iranian foamiran in finished form.

The first photo shows the foamiran iris template. According to the pattern, we cut out 3 petals from white foamiran for one flower, measuring 8 cm * 5 cm.

Made from purple foamiran, 3 petals measuring 8.5 cm * 6.5 cm.

From white foamiran we cut out scallops measuring 6.5 cm * 3 cm.

From green foamiran we cut out one leaf measuring 18.5 cm * 4.5 cm and a sepal, which consists of three leaves measuring 3 cm * 2 cm.

From yellow foamiran we cut out three strips of 1 cm * 8 cm and cut them into small fringes.

Using yellow acrylic paint with a brush, apply strokes to the comb and small petals of the flower. We apply this tint on both sides.

Then use dark pink paint to apply strokes along the top of the petals and the ridges. And we tint the bottom of the petals and scallops.

On the purple petals we apply a leaf texture with a stick, in the form of a peacock’s tail. Apply tint to the middle of the petals with dark pink acrylic paint.

Then, using white acrylic paint, we apply strokes along the top of the petals and draw lines in the middle, diverging in different directions.

Fold the yellow fringe strip in half twice and glue the bottom well. Then we heat it on the iron, using our fingers to fluff it up.

Then we tint the top of the fringe with a brush with dark pink acrylic paint, creating a beard for the flower.

We heat the scallops on an iron at silk-wool temperature and make a small depression in the middle of the scallop, pull out the top of the scallop, twisting it slightly, pull the bottom over your finger and pull it down.

We heat the white petals on an iron, also at silk-wool temperature, and make a spoon-type depression. Then we heat the top of the petal 2-3 cm in sections, fold it like an accordion and grind each part separately.

We also heat the purple petals on an iron at silk-wool temperature and make waves on the edges of the petal. That is, we perform such movements as if trying to tear a petal. We also pull the stem of the petal down a little.

Glue the beard at a distance of 2.5 cm from the end of the stem in the middle of the petal.

We also heat the flower leaf on an iron and process it on a mold, pressing the leaf texture well.

Then we fold the sheet slightly in half and stretch it out, giving the sheet a realistic look.

We also heat the sepal leaves on an iron and twist them between our fingers. Then straighten and stretch a little.

We take the wire and glue the scallops in the form of a triangle.

We glue white petals between the scallops, they should look up. We place the petals between the scallops and glue them.

Then glue on the purple petals. The beard on the petal should be under the comb.

We treat the wire with tape tape, glue the sepal leaves and tint the junction of the tape tape and sepals with oil pastel and also go over the entire stem a little with oil pastel, shading with a sponge.
