How to make a painting from coffee beans with your own hands? DIY panel of coffee beans: step-by-step instructions Panel with coffee.

A very fashionable trend called “Hand Made” has recently become a popular and incredibly exciting activity. Today, skilled needlewomen use all kinds of devices and materials for their creations, one of which is coffee beans. It turns out that they are suitable not only for preparing an invigorating drink, but also for creating a very interesting and original piece of furniture.

Even if you are not a professional artist, you can still create beautiful coffee bean paintings with your own hands. Moreover, rest assured, the process will give you great pleasure, and the resulting result will please you much more than decor purchased in a store. Panels and topiaries made from aromatic grains charge with optimism and vigor, and anyone can make them. You will see this by reading the master classes in this article.

Crafts from coffee beans for beginners

Mastering the technique of making masterpieces from coffee beans is not such a difficult science, and anyone who has at least a little imagination can do it. It’s better to start with the simplest crafts, including:

  • Decorative jars, vases, glasses.
  • Photo frames.
  • Decorative candlesticks and candles.
  • Postcards.
  • Decorative paintings.

Choosing material for work

If you decide to create a small masterpiece that can decorate your home, then the first thing you need to do is buy the right coffee beans. To create decor, packaged packs of coffee in opaque packaging, in which you will not be able to consider the purchase, are not suitable. It is better to buy the material in stores where coffee is sold by weight.

Important! You should also not buy Arabica beans, since for greater texture, beans of different sizes are required. It is better to give preference to a cheaper variety.

Coffee painting

For beginning needlewomen, creating a painting from coffee beans with your own hands will be a wonderful pastime. It will not only become a beautiful piece of furniture, but will also be a pleasant gift for loved ones. You can choose any subject for a “coffee” painting—from a traditional steaming cup to a grandiose artistic canvas.

To make such a picture you will need:

  1. Thick cardboard.
  2. Glue.
  3. A piece of fabric (preferably smooth and light-colored, however, if coarse burlap fits into the concept of your masterpiece, you can use that too).
  4. Leg-split.
  5. Coffee beans.
  6. Picture frame.
  7. Stencils.
  8. Decorative beads, ribbons or dry leaves.
  9. Clear varnish.

Sequencing:

  • Cover a thick sheet of cardboard with fabric, securing it with glue on the opposite side.
  • Think over the plot of the picture and use stencils to draw the image.

Important! If you don’t have stencils at your disposal, then replace them with a simple device: print the picture on a thin sheet of paper and, having outlined it with cosmetic blush or shadows, transfer the drawing to canvas.

  • After this, carefully glue the coffee beans.
  • Decorate the outline of the picture with twine, fixing it on the picture with glue.
  • Finally, coat the grains with colorless varnish, and after complete drying, insert the picture into the frame.

Important! To ensure that the frame and the painting are in the same style, it is better to choose a dark brown frame.

Coffee panel

To create another version of a painting from coffee beans with your own hands, you will need the following:

  • Liter plastic bottle.
  • PVA glue.
  • Stationery and construction tape.
  • Scissors.
  • Canvas.
  • Brush.
  • Bean or ground coffee.
  • Cardboard.

Sequencing:

  1. Separate the top of the plastic bottle and then cut it in half lengthwise.
  2. Cut off the neck of the resulting cone - this way you will get the front convex part of the cup.
  3. Make the back flat part of the cup from cardboard and glue it to the plastic blank using hot glue.
  4. Wrap the resulting cup with paper construction tape, then cover it with glue and sprinkle with ground coffee. This is necessary so that subsequently there are no gaps between the coffee beans.
  5. Leave the craft to dry.
  6. Cut out a saucer from cardboard, use glue to fix grains and a dried lemon slice on it.
  7. Grease the completely dry cup with glue again and glue the grains to it: first along the contour, and then to the rest of the surface.
  8. The background can be left white or powdered with ground coffee. You can also glue a small cinnamon stick.

Important! Finally, coat the product with varnish. This will make your painting shine beautifully and make it easier to wipe off dust.

Craft made from coffee and twine

In addition to painting your own coffee beans, you can also create an unusual cup, vase or flower pot. The simplest option would be a decorative aroma candle, which can be used not only for aesthetic purposes, but as a gift for loved ones.

To make an original candle you will need:

  1. Scented candle.
  2. Glue or glue gun.
  3. Leg-split.
  4. Coffee beans.
  5. Clear varnish.

Sequencing:

  • To begin, wrap the candle tightly with twine. This can be done around the entire circumference of the candle or to its middle.
  • After this, using a glue gun, secure the ends of the twine to the candle so that they fit tightly to its surface, without forming a void or protruding.

Important! You can even do without glue by melting small sections of the candle and pressing the twine into its surface.

Even if you are not a professional artist, you can certainly create paintings from coffee beans. Do-it-yourself decor will bring much more pleasure than store-bought. Topiaries and panels made from aromatic grains charge with vivacity and optimism, and anyone can make them.

Paintings, engravings, panels set a completely different tone for the space, making the image of the room more complete. If the room is not decorated, its design looks unfinished.

By showing your imagination, you can make several accessories in the same color scheme, in the same style.

Vertical and horizontal format

Horizontally elongated canvases visually “expand” the wall, while vertical patterns make the ceiling higher. A vertical painting is ideal for a narrow hallway or small kitchen.

The designer’s task is to select such decorations for the interior that will maximally emphasize his style.

If you like a painting with a large pattern, you should take into account that the best view for it is only possible from a distance of several meters. Remember that bright colors on the canvas change the perception of the room.

Advice. A large painting optically reduces the space, making it suitable for the living room. Above the bed in the bedroom you can hang a horizontally elongated picture.

The background for paintings made from natural materials can be canvas or a bamboo napkin

The “money” coffee tree will bring good luck to the house

  1. The picture should hang on the wall so that the direct line of sight passes 3 cm above the bottom border of the picture (not the frame). If the room has high ceilings, the same rule applies to vertical paintings. For low ceilings, such a line is drawn 7 cm higher from the bottom edge of the vertical picture.
  2. Large paintings are hung at a distance of 1.6 m from the floor, and the center of the canvas should be at eye level of the person looking at the painting. It is better to hang small frescoes and engravings slightly below eye level (1.5 m from the floor). Such pictures should be easy to view from a short distance - no more than 1 m.

Coffee lovers will especially enjoy using aromatic beans as a decorating material.

  1. Paintings framed with massive frames require a fairly large room.
  2. In a group of three paintings, the central one will attract the most attention.
  3. In one room it is advisable to place paintings that are similar in technique, theme or color design.

For the picture, you can use a ready-made wooden frame, or you can simply lay out a border made of coffee beans

Important! Never hang a large picture above a small one, otherwise the upper canvas will “crush” the lower one with its size. Several paintings are not hung in order of decreasing or increasing size.

  1. If you have several paintings of the same size, an interesting design solution would be to hang them at different levels from the floor. If you are not sure that you can cope with such a task, it is better to place the canvases at an equal distance from each other in the same row.

Coffee provides fertile ground for creativity

  1. Before hanging several pictures on one wall, practice creating a composition on the floor.
  2. If the wall is painted in a bright color or has an expressive texture, hang the canvas on a wide mat (the so-called cardboard that frames the picture). This way the drawing will not “get lost” against the background of the wall.

Three techniques for creating coffee masterpieces

About 10 years ago, Angela Sarkela and Andy Sau, avant-garde artists, were among the first to use coffee grounds instead of paints. You can apply coffee to canvas in different forms and in different ways.

Method 1. Stencil technique

To create a picture you will need a template and coffee bean powder. Attach the stencil to the base, coat the desired parts of the design with glue and sprinkle ground coffee over it. Now carefully remove the template and wait for the glue to dry completely.

You can create such a picture using ground coffee and a stencil.

Method 2. Drawing coffee grounds

First, a sketch is drawn in thin lines with a pencil, then the drawing is painted over with a strongly brewed infusion of coffee. Thanks to different consistencies, you can get different shades of “paint”.

Rich black coffee is poured into several containers and diluted with water until the desired shade is obtained. Next, the solution is applied to the canvas with a brush. When working, water is also used, just as when painting with ordinary paints.

Important! In the process of creating a picture, you need to ensure that the coffee is applied in an even layer. If a smudge does form, it can be removed with a soft sponge.

Method 3. Using grains

The simplest and at the same time the most popular method is to use coffee beans of different colors and sizes. The color of the beans depends on the intensity of their roasting.

Select the desired canvas size and decide on the design. It could be an abstraction or something more specific, such as a figurine of a cat. Draw outlines on the canvas with a pencil. Next, the drawing is covered with glue, and then with coffee beans.

DIY paintings and panels made from coffee beans

Eco-design, the creation of paintings from natural materials, is becoming increasingly popular. Coffee beans, beans, dried flowers, dried citrus slices, threads and lace, spices - from all this you can create wonderful compositions that will “revive” even the most dull and monotonous interior.

Coffee topiary

You can make topiary in the shape of a ball, heart or Christmas tree.

To create the composition you will need: coffee beans (100-200 g - depending on the size of the topiary), a foam blank (you can find it in a craft store), a blank for the trunk (for example, a tree branch), a flower pot or cup (made of ceramics, plastic or wood), hot glue and PVA glue, golden or chocolate-colored satin ribbons, beads, paints (preferably acrylic), brushes, stones and plaster for weighting.

  • Paint the blank ball with brown paint and wait until it dries completely.
  • Coat the ball with PVA glue.
  • Then glue each seed with hot glue from a gun. Try to keep the gaps as small as possible. Place large grains at the top, smaller grains at the bottom.
  • Wrap the barrel with satin ribbon and secure the edge with hot glue.
  • Place the tree in the correct position and secure it with plaster and stones.

Master class: coffee panel

You will need: a plastic liter bottle, PVA glue, construction and stationery tape, scissors, a brush, canvas, cardboard, ground and bean coffee.

The gaps between the grains can be painted over with brown paint or filled with ground coffee.

  • Separate the top from the bottle and cut it in half lengthwise. Cut off the neck of the resulting cone. The front convex part of the cup is ready.
  • Make the flat back of the cup from cardboard and glue it to the plastic blank with hot glue.
  • Wrap the resulting cup with paper construction tape, cover it with glue and sprinkle with ground coffee (this is necessary so that later there are no gaps between the grains). Let the product dry.
  • Cut out a saucer from cardboard, apply glue, dried lemon slices and coffee beans to it.
  • Grease the dried cup with glue again and glue the coffee beans to it (first along the contours, and then to the rest of the surface of the cup).
  • The background can be left white, or you can sprinkle it with ground coffee or lay it out with grains and cinnamon sticks.

You can paint pictures not only with oil and watercolor. Modern artists easily create their masterpieces from non-standard materials, in particular from coffee beans and beans. If you think about the size and shape of the panel in advance, prepare all the necessary materials, you can make a wall or tabletop composition in a couple of hours.

A room without decorations, paintings, or souvenirs looks uncomfortable and uninhabited. The presence of cute trinkets says a lot about the owner of the home and his tastes. A room decorated in a certain direction, with a sense of proportion and in compliance with certain rules, will be beautiful and stylish. Handmade jewelry will bring pleasure, pleasant memories and pride. And if they are made from coffee beans, then the delicious aroma of coffee is added to the beauty, creating coziness and tranquility.

Products made from beans and ground coffee are so diverse that it is difficult to consider them all. Each master finds his own style. There are several main directions and techniques used in our work. And everything else is a creative approach.

Crafts from twine and coffee

    Save

Original crafts and gifts can be made using twine and coffee. Wrap the vase, flower pot, and candle with twine so that there are no gaps left. Glue the grains onto the twine, creating a drawing or abstraction. Create patterns, curls, flowers from threads, paste them onto the craft, and decorate the coffee.

    Save

For such a craft, you can purchase a foam heart in special stores. This will make the job much easier. First, paint the heart brown so that the white parts do not show through, and glue the coffee beans. Then fix the aluminum wire or wooden stick in a container with plaster - this will be a stand for the heart. You can decorate with twine, coffee beans, ribbons, flowers. The heart can be suspended, then a stand and container will not be needed. It can be hung on a ribbon above the desktop, to a table lamp, or in a doorway.

Coffee topiary

The coffee tree can be made in any shape: ball, herringbone, heart. Buy the form at the store or make it yourself. Cover it with coffee beans. You can coat it with clear varnish, this will give the product shine and durability. But the smell of coffee will disappear. For the trunk you will need any branch fixed in a flower pot or tea cup. To work you will need 100-200 g of coffee, PVA glue, hot glue, plaster. Ribbons, beads, and stones are suitable for decoration.

In such crafts, not only the image is valued, but also the opportunity to make a frame out of coffee. It can be wide, with multidirectional placement of grains, and combined with other grains. If the frame is wide, then the picture itself should be modest, consisting of an inscription, the silhouette of a cup and 3-5 grains lying nearby. Often used in paintings is a clock dial with hands frozen at the most pleasant moment of life.

A sketch is applied to the canvas. The grains are then laid out to assess what the finished painting will look like. If everything is satisfactory, then glue is applied to the silhouette and the coffee is carefully glued.

There are no restrictions when creating coffee paintings. You can come up with and depict any landscape, portrait, or animal. It all depends on the artistic abilities of the master.

Coffee bean tree

It is made in the form of panels or crafts. For the panel you need to draw a tree with a pencil. The trunk and branches are twisted from twine and glued to the base. They will create volume and relief, just like real ones. The grains represent leaves, and coins are glued to the branches among the leaves. It turns out to be a coffee-money tree.

    Save

Another option is to create a craft from a frame or ball covered with coffee. Instead of a trunk, a branch or tube is used, fixed with plaster in a tea cup, jar or pot. Decorate the cup with cinnamon tubes, vanilla stars, and dried lemon slices. This will additionally add a rich aroma.

Using a combination of contrasting tones, you can get paintings and crafts of absolutely extraordinary beauty. This contrast is obtained from the use of coffee beans and white beans. They are the same in size and texture, combined in a pattern and creating abstraction or a struggle of opposites. From coffee and beans you can create a picture or panel with the symbols of Yin and Yang, with silhouettes of white and dark cats.

Burlap is considered the most successful background and basis for coffee crafts. They go well together, the grains are associated with the bags in which they are brought. Therefore, scattered coffee beans on burlap are a ready-made picture. Beginners often create panels with a cup of coffee, a heart, or an inscription. It can be a simple lined silhouette, or a completely grain-covered, voluminous look with a real porcelain cup. It all depends on your imagination. A picture made of burlap can be inserted into a wooden frame, or made from coffee, gluing the beans in one or several rows.

Panel of cats

It is difficult to make a full-fledged picture from coffee beans, especially if there are no clearly defined silhouettes. When choosing a theme, many people choose the image of cats. Their image is easy to create and recognize. A gracefully elongated body, a long tail, ears - everything is quite simple to decorate with large grains, even without experience in drawing. This can be done according to the sketch, gluing them in one line, or you can completely glue the entire silhouette. The white and dark cats sitting next to each other look original. This panel will decorate any room.

Interesting facts about coffee...
Coffee is the most popular drink in the world. Among all products, coffee ranks second in popularity (after vegetable oil).
Approximately 10% of people are not at all susceptible to the effects of coffee. Vigor, tone and increased blood pressure from a cup of hot drink are not about them.
The longer coffee is roasted, the less caffeine remains in it.
Coffee tastes well with almost any food.
The aroma of coffee is in the top ten most recognizable smells.
The smell of coffee relieves stress
It is generally accepted that the smell of coffee is wonderfully invigorating. However, scientists from three countries have found that the smell of coffee beans has another property.
Experts from South Korea, Germany and Japan have proven that the smell of coffee reduces the symptoms and effects of stress. Such conclusions were made during experiments on laboratory animals.
Tests show that the aroma of coffee leads to changes in the functioning of 17 genes and the production of proteins in the brain, writes Web MD. Thus, the smell of coffee beans stimulates the production of substances with antioxidant properties.
These substances protect nerve cells from damage and help you recover faster from stress.
Coffee beans are by far the most popular material for creating various DIY crafts. Coffee beans have a pleasant smell, do not spoil, have a rich color and interesting texture. Coffee beans bring happiness to the home; they have a unique coffee aroma that creates an atmosphere of warmth and comfort.
This is the kind of panel we will make from coffee beans.

Let's stock up on a good mood and move forward!
For work we will need:

- plastic bottle (1 liter)
- coffee beans
- ground coffee
- masking tape
- finished frame
- thick burlap
- PVA glue (preferably thick construction glue)
- glue "Titan"
- hot glue
- decorative flowers and decorations
- cinnamon
- dried lemon, orange, zest roses
- leg-split
- packaging cardboard
- brown gouache
- brush, ruler, scissors
Step-by-step production
1. Cut off the top part of a plastic bottle, the length from the neck is 13 cm (two parts are made from one bottle), cut in half lengthwise, then cut off the neck

2.Cut out the back wall and bottom for the mug from packaging cardboard. For the saucer it is better to cut out two parts and glue them together, since my cardboard is thin

3.Glue the parts to the mug using Titan glue

4. We cover the workpiece with masking tape, we need this for the strength of the mug, for better gluing of the coffee beans and so that the hot glue does not melt the workpiece

5. Paint the mug and saucer with brown ink.

And you can do it differently. First, spread the workpiece with PVA glue, and then sprinkle with ground coffee (I didn’t really like the second option, this option is suitable for those who glue coffee beans only with hot glue; I mainly use “Titanium”, and use hot glue in those cases , when you need the coffee to stick immediately; and I painted the top of the workpiece again with gouache)

6. Making a mug
It is necessary to choose coffee beans of the same size. Glue the coffee around the edges of the mug using hot glue. Please note that we glue the grains exactly along the workpiece so that they do not protrude beyond the borders of the mug, otherwise they will not stick to the base of the panel

7.Then we glue the coffee beans onto Titan glue (I drop a little glue onto the workpiece and spread it over a small area with a wooden skewer). You can glue all the beans on one side

I prefer to alternate grains with different sides

8. Making a saucer
Glue the coffee beans first along the edge and then along the entire workpiece.

Please note that the saucer on top is made of one layer of cardboard, it was impossible to bend it into the desired shape. But the lower saucer was already glued together from two parts and it was easy to give it the desired shape.

9. Trying on cups with different saucers

10. Cover the frames with burlap

11. Glue a mug and saucer with hot glue and make a handle from grains

12. Decorate the panel
We tie the cinnamon with twine and glue it on with hot glue, on the other side a dried lemon slice
One of the options for decorating the panel is dried orange, lemon and zest roses.

13.This is how I make roses from orange zest and dry them

I buy cinnamon like this

15. We create the “coffee aroma” coming from the mug.
Draw, apply PVA glue and sprinkle with ground coffee. Shake off the remains.

16. Decorate the panel with artificial flowers and decorations

Second version of the panel "Summer Morning"

For this option, we do everything the same as in the first case. We only decorate the frame with cinnamon and ground coffee.
1. Measure the required distance (6 cm) from the edge of the panel and glue the cinnamon with hot glue

2. Making a frame
To do this, you need to outline the frame and coat it with PVA glue, and then sprinkle with ground coffee, shake off the rest on the table
