Promotion “Light green ribbon”.

2017 is the Year of Ecology in Russia. Therefore, much attention is paid to environmental education of children. The goal of environmental education is to teach people to appreciate nature, to get people interested in a range of environmental problems through a book, and to show how extensive the relationship between man and nature is.

For this purpose, a literary game “Earth - a planet of people” was held with children in the Demkinsky rural library. The event began with a dialogue about what it means to protect nature and what the Red Book is. The children were offered statements by famous writers about their native nature: K. G. Paustovsky, I. S. Turgenev, L. N. Leonov, A. M. Gorky, M. A. Sholokhov, etc., the librarian also spoke about beauty native land, reminded about caring for the surrounding world, advised to be observant and notice the beauty in everyday things. The children willingly participated in competitions: “Mysteries of flora and fauna”, where children answered environmental quiz questions, “Remember his name” (they guessed endangered animals from photographs), “It’s not for nothing that the proverb says” (they inserted missing words into proverbs about nature) , “Riddles - deceptions” (solved riddles about animals). At the end of the event, participants placed pictures of animals in their habitats on a large world map.

In the Dubovskaya rural library, an environmental tournament “Riddles in the forest at every step.” The ecological tournament was based on knowledge of the works of naturalist writers. Children from the senior class of Dubovskaya secondary school took part in it. The students, divided into two teams, answered quiz questions, guessed the encrypted names of animals, remembered “which branch are these babies from?”, and unanimously discussed the diversity of these birds. We learned interesting facts from the life of different forest inhabitants. The children got acquainted with materials from the book exhibition “Nature - the Muse of the Great”. The decisive point in the tournament was the competition for captains. At the end of the tournament, the teams were awarded diplomas.

During each event within the framework of the Year of Ecology, the librarian of the Vednovskaya Rural Library Larisa Fedoryuk strives to ensure that each participant realizes that he is a part of the Earth, makes him think about environmental problems, awakens a caring attitude towards every butterfly and dragonfly, every animal and bird, and ultimately in the end - to yourself.

“Take care of these lands, these waters,
I love even a small epic.
Take care of all animals within nature,
Kill only the beasts within you!”
E. Yevtushenko

The quiz game “Ecology and Us” began with these words, in which the children divided into two teams and came up with mottos for themselves. First, we did a warm-up, then moved on to completing competition tasks. The first competition was called “Forest Quiz”, in which children proved themselves to be forest experts. Then the children continued to play in such competitions as “Habitat” and “Pantomime”, where they proved themselves to be talented actors. There were many competitions and the children participated in them with pleasure. The final competition was “Ecological Disaster”. Its participants had to imagine themselves as rescuers and help small animals. The children showed courage, speed, dexterity, ability to handle victims, accuracy and precision. The game ended with the words of the Little Prince from the book of Saint-Exupery: “You got up in the morning, washed your face, put yourself in order - and immediately put the planet in order.” After such an educational event, I would like to hope that the children will take care of nature.

This year our library took part in this All-Russian interlibrary event for the third time. Therefore, participation in the event can be considered a truly good tradition.

The task of the Week of Kindness is to convey to each participant the principles of tolerance, talk about mercy, introduce or remind the rules of etiquette, develop a conscious desire to be kind in the most in a broad sense this word.

Traditionally, each day of Kindness Week in our library was dedicated to a separate topic.

On November 14, on the “Day of Open Hearts”, the library had an open cinema hall, where readers were able to watch and discuss episodes from films that teach empathy, mercy, love (G. Troepolsky “White Beam Black Ear”, E. Porter “Pollyanna”, V. Zheleznyakov “Scarecrow”, J. London “White Fang”).

Book show
"Children's book on the podium"

On September 28, a book defile was held for young readers at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library, where wonderful books were presented that our grandmothers and mothers read with pleasure. These children's books were included in the IBBY Honor List from 1970 to 2016 as part of the All-Russian campaign “Children's Book on the Pedestal of Honor.”

The campaign is carried out by the Association “Raising Readers” together with the Children's Book Council of Russia (IBBY Russia). The participants in the event were books nominated for an international children's literary award, which definitely speaks to the quality of the books and the high value of their texts, artwork or translation. The organizers of the event tried to draw attention to the award-nominated books written by Russian authors, illustrated by Russian artists, or translated from other languages into Russian by translators from Russia.
The start of the “Children’s book on the podium” campaign took place on June 1, 2017, on International Children’s Day, and the campaign will end on December 1, 2017.

Our “book fashion show” began with an acquaintance with Roman Sef’s book “Brave Flower”. The nice, neat, smart and sonorous poem “The Butterfly and the Bee” took off and disappeared into the souls of young readers.

Then the next book appeared on the “podium” - Sergei Ivanov’s “Winter Girl”. The stories of this author make us kinder, more merciful to people and to all living things. They discover in us a happy ability - the ability to observe nature. Reading aloud an excerpt from the story “The Uncaught Hedgehog” captivated the readers with the story and the children wanted to know how the story would end.

The next book – Stanislav Vostokov’s “Winter Door”, with its miniature stories, opened the door to the wonderful world of rural nature. And various oddities and quiet miracles, without which the village cannot exist. For example, in the story “Cat in a Bucket,” a huge gray cat can live not in the house or in the yard, but in a bucket that hangs on a birch tree. He sleeps during the day, and at night he gets out and goes about his cat business. This story surprised the children.

Marina Moskvina’s book “My Dog Loves Jazz” is simply a fun “Jumble”, which is unusually illustrated by the artist Vladimir Burkin.

The next book is Viktor Golyavkin “Veselchaki”. His funny stories feature ordinary girls and boys with whom various funny stories happen at school and at home. And the artist V. Galdyaev brightly complemented the humorous plots and images of young characters.

Reading aloud the stories “Carousel in the Head” and “How I Wrote Poems” captivated the children so much that they wanted to dramatize them.

At the end of the event, young readers came to the unanimous opinion that all the books presented were worthy of the highest awards and a place of honor on the podium.

Information Day
“Come into the green house, you will see miracles in it”

On September 27, the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library hosted an Information Day “Come into a green house, you will see miracles in it.” It is in September that forest workers – forest rangers – celebrate their professional holiday.

During the event, students of PTPL No. 22 made a correspondence trip to the “green house” and learned how to behave correctly in the forest. To do this, we played the game “You can - you can’t”, listened to and discussed the story by V. Sukhomlinsky “Ashamed before the nightingale.”

The guys also learned what gifts the forest kingdom gives us, read the poem by Samuil Marshak “What are we planting when we plant forests?”, enjoyed the sounds of the forest and beautiful forest landscapes by watching a slide show by photographer Pyotr Kosykh “The Soul of Russia”. And the guys also visited "Glade of Tears", heard the complaints of forest inhabitants and looked at the Red Book of the Pskov region. And, of course, a bibliographic review of books took place - the guys remembered naturalist writers, whose books teach to love and take care of forests, animals, nature: Mikhail Prishvin, Dmitry Mamin-Sibiryak , Nikolai Sladkov, Vitaly Bianki. Of particular interest was Boris Vasiliev’s book “Don’t Shoot White Swans", which tells about people who live next to the taiga. But some heroes treat the taiga as a friend, take care of it, while other heroes think only about profit, about profit, they take nature’s gifts, leaving nothing in return.

The event ended with a joint reading of E. Shklovsky’s poem “Take care of us, take care of us!”

Meeting with Tatyana Bering

On September 13, a meeting with Tatyana Bering took place at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library as part of the All-Russian literary festival “Book Apple Tree”.

Tatyana told the children about the history of the festival, its goals and objectives, and presented in detail the most modern ways of promoting books and reading among children and teenagers. This is the creation of book trailers, video reviews of the book, quest games based on the book and dramatization of the book. The meeting took place in the form of a dialogue, the guys talked about their personal experience of using all the listed methods, and answered Tatyana’s questions about what books they like to read. In response, we learned new interesting facts about our favorite writers - for example, that Natalya Shcherba is not only a writer, but also an athlete, and she practices wushu professionally.

We hope that at our event both children and adults received a charge of inspiration, because reading is tasty and healthy!

Game program “Journey from A to Z”

On September 1, the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library hosted the game program “Journey from A to Z” for library readers.

Today, on Knowledge Day, the library received a magical telegram from the Queen from the Land of Knowledge, addressed to library readers: “Hello, guys! I hasten to congratulate you on your first day of school and invite you on a journey through the Land of Knowledge from “A” to “Z”! Your Queen Lands of Knowledge!"

After reading the telegram, the guys set off on a fun little train from Romashkovo on a journey through the stations. But since this journey is unusual, then we encountered unusual – magical stations. Along the route, all tasks had to be completed, and at the end of the journey, all the children were in for a surprise.

The first station was the “Literary Ring”, here the children were asked to remember stories and fairy tales about school. The second station was “The Magic City of Pskov,” where readers answered questions and played the “Memory” game about Pskov. The third station was “Ecological Riddles”, where the participants of the event guessed riddles on environmental topics.

At the end of the event, the Queen from the Land of Knowledge prepared a surprise for all participants - watching the cartoon “In the Land of Unlearned Lessons” based on the work of art by L. Geraskina “In the Land of Unlearned Lessons”.

Mercy campaign for the Day of Protection of Homeless Animals

Every third Saturday in August is celebrated as International Day for the Protection of Stray Animals. This year the fifth anniversary of the Mercy Action took place. For five years in a row, the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library has been holding a Mercy Action together with the Pskov public organization Zooprotection. The promotion started on August 1 and lasted until August 18.

Library staff created a thematic exhibition entitled “We are responsible for those we have tamed.” These words were once said by the famous French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. During the event, children, their parents and simply concerned citizens brought food, medicine, vitamins, toys, collars, leashes, shampoos, litter, houses and beds. All funds collected during the campaign will be donated to public organization"Zoo protection" Pskov. For the participants of the action, a mini-film “Sawmill” was shown about the Pskov shelter for homeless animals, about the difficult but noble work of the employees of this shelter, and its inhabitants - dogs, cats, who so lack the most important thing - a loving Owner.

The event participants also listened to the story of the Pskov writer Tatyana Ryzhova “The Dog Who Didn’t Want to Live,” which evoked a great emotional response from the children.

The purpose of the action is not only to raise essential funds for homeless dogs and cats, but also to create an environmental culture and popularize books and magazines about animals. And the main thing is to instill in the younger generation a sense of responsibility, love, and mercy. We hope that this action did not pass without a trace for our readers.

Meeting for the 165th anniversary of the Russian writer D. N. Mamin-Sibiryak

This year marks the 165th anniversary of the birth of the wonderful Russian prose writer and playwright Dmitry Narkisovich Mamin-Sibiryak. The children's ecological library "Rainbow" connected this anniversary with the creative workshop "Visiting a Fairy Tale" for young reading friends. The children learned a short biography of Mamin-Sibiryak and the history of writing the most beloved children's works, “Alyonushka's Fairy Tales.”

How are books created? Guest Evgenia Matveeva, a student at the St. Petersburg Art Academy, spoke about this. A young illustrator suggested doing some creative work to create an initial letter for Alyonushka’s Tales. A capital letter, or initial, is a large letter, different from the others, the first letter of a chapter, section or an entire book.

In handwritten books, initial letters were often decorated with miniatures and ornaments. In early printed books, colored initial letters continued to be written in by hand. In ancient printed books, multi-type initial letters were used for a long time to begin a new text, which were replaced by simple letters in the form of ordinary typeface, but with an enlarged size. Children easily identified the initial letters from the texts of children's local history literature, in the fairy tales of Mamin-Sibiryak. Then, based on excerpts from “Alyonushka’s Tales,” we chose templates for future initial letters. The creative process captivated young readers. Everyone showed imagination, artistic ability and hard work.

The creative workshop does not finish its work, because you can create miracles by creating your own books at home. Go ahead, young talents!

Reading marathon "Reading about Pskov"

On July 20, a reading marathon based on the book by Pskov local historian Yuri Stepanov “Legends and Traditions of the Pskov Region” started in children’s libraries in the city of Pskov. The first event as part of the reading marathon took place at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library, which opened with poems by Pskov poets about their hometown.

A review of the book exhibition “To be a great and glorious city here” introduced participants to local history literature for children and teenagers. During the event, the children got acquainted with the book by Yu. Stepanov “Legends and Traditions of the Pskov Region”. First, young readers discussed the meaning of the term “legend”, and then found answers to the questions: Who was the first to reign in Izborsk? Who founded Pskov and Porkhov? Why is the path of the Pskov-Pechersky Monastery called “Bloody”, and the largest chambers of Pskov are called Pogankins? How were the people of Pskov saved from the wrath of Ivan the Terrible? What is hidden in the underground of the Thundering Tower?..

Legends about Izborsk, Pechory, Pushkinogorye and Pskov in the literary processing of Yuri Stepanov provide answers to all these questions. All of them are presented in accessible literary language, so that even the youngest readers could get acquainted with the history of their native land.

Reading aloud the legend “The Founding of Pskov” gave the children a literary and artistic understanding of how the ancient city, the ancestor of which is considered to be Princess Olga.

The event participants also got acquainted with the illustrations of Sergei Volodin, which vividly complement the epic narrative.

Then, during the discussion, young readers determined where in the legends there is historical fact, and where there is fiction and exaggeration.

At the end of the event, the children completed interactive tasks. In the game “On the Boat”, using a schematic map, we made a water journey from the Gremyachaya Tower to Pokrovskaya. In the game “Pskov Alphabet” the children had to use a book exhibition to find a word for each letter of the alphabet that was connected with the history of Pskov. Each participant in the event was also able to try on different costumes and take a photo as a souvenir.

"Wonderful stories about the Pechora land"

On July 12, at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library, young readers took a virtual trip “Wonderful stories about the Pechora land.” The journey began with the book exhibition “Milestones in the History of the Pskov Land,” where the children became acquainted with local history literature on the history of their small homeland.

Then the guys continued to travel through the pages of the new book “Wonderful Stories about the Pechora Land” by the Pskov author - candidate of philological sciences, associate professor, member of the Writers' Union of Russia and the International Association of Writers and Publicists, translator Tatyana Semyonovna Ryzhova.

One of the book heroes helped us travel - the Tower of the Lower Grids. With the help of the Tower, the children studied the diagram of the Pechora fortress presented on the book pages. Then young readers learned a brief history of the Pskov-Pechora (Uspensky) Monastery.

Reading aloud a passage from the book captivated me with an interesting legend about the appearance of caves. The children happily leafed through the colorful pages and continued reading on their own. Interactive tasks involved readers in the history of the ancient Pskov land.

Creative workshop "Ekosamodelkin"

On June 23, a creative workshop called “Eco-modelkin” was held at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library.

In the first part of the event, the children watched with interest a film about the ASPO LLC enterprise and its successful activities in the fight against garbage. While watching the video, the event participants discovered that sorted and recycled plastic bags and film are used in the production of polymer sand paving slabs. Then the children were shown a sample of tiles that are used in the improvement of the city of Pskov.

And in the second part of the event, the children got acquainted with the book exhibition “The Second Life of Things”, where not only books, but also crafts were presented. After all, if you turn on your imagination, then something simple and unnecessary can be turned into a useful and beautiful thing. And the guys were able to verify this by watching the cartoon “It’s All in the Hat,” based on Tove Jannson’s book “The Wizard’s Hat.”

The team of the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library thanks ASPO LLC for providing a video about the process of processing household waste and its recycling, as well as for a sample of paving slabs.

"Visiting the brownie Kuzi"

On June 21, at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library, a game program “Visiting the Little Brownie Kuzy” was held for readers, dedicated to the 45th anniversary of Tatyana Alexandrova’s book “The Brownie Kuzka.”

During the event, the children visited the brownie and learned that brownies always live in every house, they bring happiness to the house, protect it from all misfortunes, fires, protect the house and support the family hearth. The brownie is a kind creature, but with character, he loves when he is treated like a human being. Domovoy got his name from the place where he was born, lived and worked. He looks different: sometimes he will appear in the guise of the owner of the house - you can’t tell the difference, sometimes he will appear as a gray-haired old man with a face completely overgrown with hair, or even pretend to be a broom or a cat.

Brownie Kuzya loves to play and prepared a game “warm and cold”, “magic chest”, and a video quiz “The book is friends with the cartoon” for the participants of the event.

At the end of the event, the children got acquainted with Tatyana Alexandrova’s books about Kuzya.

Ecological game
"I'm friends with the daisy, the bird and the bug"

On June 16, employees of the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library held an on-site event for children from a health camp at the Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 16 named after Hero of Russia Alexei Vorobyov.”

The guys went on an exciting journey on the magical “locomotive from Romashkovo”. During the journey, the train and the children made four stops at stations. At the first station, “Tsvetochnaya,” the children guessed riddles about the flowers that can be found in courtyards, parks, and public gardens in our city.

The second station is “Medicinal”, where the children collected unusual puzzles that introduced them to the medicinal plants of our region. Also at this station the children were treated to a mini-review of books about plants.

The third station was called "Paws and Tails". Here the children got acquainted with the rules of behavior in nature, learned how to behave correctly so as not to harm animals and birds. To consolidate the acquired knowledge, the children were asked to play the “Yes or No” game; books helped the children find the correct answers.

The last station the guys visited was the Gribnaya station. A fun and energetic game accompanied by music helped the children remember all the mushrooms that can be found in our forests, and also find out which of them can be collected and which cannot.
After this, the children got acquainted with the literature about the flora and fauna of our region presented at the exhibition.

Promotion “Light green ribbon”

June 5, World Ecologist Day, at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library as part of All-Russian Ecological Children's Festival The “Light Ribbon” campaign took place - this is one of the brightest and largest events of the Year of Ecology in the country. The festival united two big holidays - World Environment Day and Ecologist's Day.

Guests of the event were our long-time partners, employees of Rosprirodnadzor, as well as Associate Professor of the Department of EGP at Pskov State University, Candidate of Biological Sciences Natalya Valerievna Nedospasova. Natalya Valerievna told the event participants about plants that are unconventional for our climate zone and grow in the Pskov Botanical Garden.

During the event, the guys also tried to find answers to the questions:
- What are plants?
- Can plants be called living organisms?
- How do plants differ from animals?
- What do we know about plants?
- Do trees talk?
- What is harmful and what is beneficial for plants?
- What fairy tales are dedicated to plants and what is true and what is fiction in them?

All event participants received a light green ribbon and a bag of seeds as a sign of participation in the event.

A light green ribbon on clothes is a sign that we are trying to live eco-friendly, taking active decisions and actions to preserve the environment. The light green color was chosen for a reason - this bright and rich color of young foliage and summer greenery will charge everyone around with positive emotions, inspiring and encouraging action.
A bag of seeds is a simple and clear way to start helping nature right here and now.

Participation in the “Light Ribbon” campaign is a personal contribution to the conservation of nature and greening of our city.

Bad weather could not ruin our plans and our mood; using the resources of our website, we took a virtual (instead of the planned real) tour of the Botanical Garden.

During the excursion, the guys got acquainted with its history, saw what it looked like in the past, discussed what they would like to see in a modern summer garden, and learned about books that tell about the plants of our Pskov region.

During the game program, our little readers were transported to a magical fairy-tale kingdom, where a fun holiday was waiting for them. But the trouble is, the kingdom turned out to be bewitched by an evil sorceress, and its beautiful princess Smeshinka turned into the disgusting Boredom. But our guys were not at a loss, gathered their courage and saved the holiday. To do this, they had to work hard: the kids guessed riddles about fairy tales and fairy-tale characters, cooked Boredom soup, answered her tricky questions, guessed the contents of the fairy tale bag, did interesting exercises, and even led a circle dance of friendship, which helped to disenchant our princess.

The holiday ended with friendly hugs, poems and congratulations on the holiday on behalf of the library staff and candidate for the City Duma Ivanov Denis Olegovich, who gave the children sweet gifts, which made our holiday even brighter and more fun.

"Visiting the school"

On May 23, as part of the Year of Ecology, an employee of the Children's Ecological Library "Rainbow" visited students of the Osten secondary school (a branch of the MBOU "Piskovskaya secondary school"). At the request of the school administration, two events were prepared and held for elementary and high school students.

Children from primary school took a fascinating journey through the children's universe of Tatyana Rick's books, getting acquainted with book characters - Dozhdinka Inka, Dunyasha the caterpillar, Andrei the Sparrow and the Beehive snail.
The children completed the tasks that the book characters prepared for them - they put things in order in the seasons, correctly composed feathered puzzles, harvested fruits and vegetables, and returned the missing mushrooms to the forest clearing.

High school students learned what animal therapy is and how pets, dogs and cats, can be real healers. During the story about dolphin therapy, students listened to the songs of dolphins; the story about hippotherapy (treatment with horses) was accompanied by a loud reading of an excerpt from the book “Jumping in the Rhythm of the Sun,” as well as a short review of books about horses. The children also learned about such rare types of animal therapy as hirudotherapy (the use of leeches) and apitherapy (treatment with bees).
But the most important healing effect that we experience when communicating with our pets is love, joy and laughter, so the event for high school students ended with a short positive video about our little brothers.

In general, the visit to the Osten secondary school was lively and joyful, the children actively answered all questions and vying with each other asking to complete all the tasks. It was fun and educational.
We will be happy to visit our new friends again!

Literary lounge “Memory for the dead, inheritance for the living”

On May 5, an event dedicated to Victory Day was held at the Rainbow Children's Ecological Library. The literary lounge “Memory for the Dead, Inheritance for the Living” opened with the presentation of the exhibition “Road of Memory” by Pskov photographer Alexander Kalinin.

“Memory Road” is a series of photographs created with the participation of reenactors and search engines from the Ostrovsky Military History Museum. The uniqueness of the photo exhibition is that during its creation props, pillboxes and trenches from the times of the Great Patriotic War were used. Work on the exhibition took place on the Stalin Line in the Ostrovsky district. This exhibition allowed readers to be transported to that terrible and courageous time of heroes, look at the epoch-making event through the eyes of its participants. Alexander Kalinin shared how the idea to take photographs on the theme of the Great Patriotic War began, and what difficulties he had to face during photography. Together with the author of the exhibition, the event was also attended by one of the models who took part in the work on the exhibition, Elina Kalinina. Throughout the year, the author and his like-minded people continued their work on the photo exhibition, filming even in difficult weather conditions, in heat, rain, snow and cold.

During the event, the theme of the struggle for victory, expectation and unquenchable faith in victory was heard in the lines of the front-line poets, into whose destinies the war suddenly burst. Poets Yulia Drunina, Bulat Okudzhava, Konstantin Simonov, Veronika Tushnova, with their lines, are etched in the memory and remain in the souls of readers. Students' heartfelt reading of the lines of these authors makes young hearts listen with excitement to songs written based on the poets' poems. The book exhibition “Books are warriors, books are soldiers” made it possible to introduce readers to modern literature about the Great Patriotic War. All participants received bookmarks with a review of local history literature about the Great Patriotic War and St. George ribbons as a keepsake of the event.

The most emotional moment of the event was the speech of a WWII participant, veteran of the USSR Armed Forces - Ivan Iosifovich Medonchak. His name is included in the first volume of the Pskov regional publication “Soldiers of Victory”.
Ivan Iosifovich spoke about the first days of the war, about his service in the reserve 9th Infantry Division since 1944. The guys gratefully presented flowers to the veteran; congratulations on the Great Victory Day were also addressed to the veteran on behalf of the candidate for deputy of the Pskov City Duma, Ivanov Denis Olegovich, and the library staff.
